Arcane Shots apply to an arrow you fire from your bow. Most of them have their effect when the arrow hits. Generally you roll all the normal damage, then add the additional damage/effects of the Shot. Seeking and Piercing Arrow require failed Dex saving throws instead of hits, but still work similarly. The arrow "carries" the spell - they use ammo as normal.

When you hit with an arcane shot. Does the attack do damage from the arrow and the arcane shot? Or just the shot?
Do arcane shots use ammo? or is it pure magical energy like in the old D&D cartoon?
