I've been toying with a lot of builds with the new 2024 book and I keep coming back to the Feywild Ranger. My idea (I sure like many others) is to make a Wisdom Based ranger to take full advantage of adding wisdom modifier to all charisma checks.
By level 4 you would have a +10 to persuasion (most likely at advantage due to friends or charm spell).
All of your attacks will be wisdom focused, Shillelagh, Produce Flame
Your DC of your spells will have an impact, Entangle, Charm
At higher levels you'll have two attacks around, conjure animals and summon fey at the same time as well as triggering frightened/charmed checks as a reaction! It seems like a super fun build to bring to a table that lacks a wisdom based character and or a face for the party.
You are literally describing the purpose of the fey wanderer. I was always a believer any class should be able to build around any role but fey wanderer really exemplifies "face" ranger and made it so much easier to play.
As a ranger I loved social boon hunting. Making local delicacies per terrain (even if not in the terrain as long as ingredients were available) or understanding local causes and politics and how terrain or enemies might help spin the party desires in the favor of x social situations. Using Tools for crafted "bribes" and gifts can really personalize npc interaction making it not just a module or adventure but instead "my groups story" because each class solves problem it's own way.
Odd ranger concepts were really fun with 2014+possible tasha's options. We were in a great place except for the meme and hate culture falsely discouraged such builds.
Now I see 2024 and think "my style of creating ranger fun is no longer wotc approved." As they removed tools I used for fun ranger characters.

Other fun spells you could take instead of Shield would be, Find Familiar or Disguise Self
