I wanted to get feed back for a class myself and a few friends from a discord server made together so please feel free to play it and or read over it to let me know some tweaks or ideas for it.
Its an interesting idea but, as written, its a bit weird. I'd suggest something like the following:
Level 1:Ancestral Knowledge: This functions as per the Ranger Favoured Enemy ability but you cannot choose humanoids as an option.
Also Level 1: Anscetral Calling: When you gain certain levels in this class you learn some bonus spells: at level 1: Find Familiar, at level 6: Find Steed and at level 10: Find Greater Steed. These do not count against the number of spells you know and when you cast them you can have the summoned creature be of the creature type you choose with Ancestral Knowledge ability.
Level 6: Ancestral Bond: When you cast a spell with a range of touch, a creature you summoned through Find Familiar, Find Steed or Find Greater Steed can deliver the spell as if it had cast the spell. Your creature must be within 100 feet of you, and it must use its reaction to deliver the spell when you cast it. If the spell requires an attack roll, you use your attack modifier for the roll.
Level 14: Ancestral Shape: You learn the spell Polymorph and this does not count against the number of spells you know. Additionally, Once per Long Rest, you may expend a spell slot to polymorph yourself into a creature, you may only use this ability to change into a creature from the type you chose with the level 1 Anscestral Knoweldge ability and the CR of the creature you polymorph into must be equal to or lower than the level of the spell slot you expend to power this ability (So if you expend a level 7 spell slot you can polymorph into a CR7 or lower creature). This ability otherwise functions as per the level 4 Polymorph spell.
Level 18: You learn the spell Shapechange and this does not count against the number of spells you know. Additionally Once per Long Rest you may cast it without expending a spell slot. If cast in this way the spell duration becomes concenctration for upto 10 minutes and you can only choose to change into creatures of the type you chose witht eh level 1 Ancestral Knowledge ability.
