Greetings! So, a friend of mine is creating a Celestial Warlock for their game and they need help with coming up with a Patron. They're going with a stars/constellations theme with their character, so ideally they're looking for a Patron that has to do with the stars, and Google has been...less than helpful. So! Any ideas or suggestions on what star-themed Patron to take will be super helpful and both my buddy and I really appreciate them. Thank you in advance! :D
EDIT: Oh! I feel I should add that Patrons that are some sort of Lovecraftian eldritch horror are apparently a no-can-do for what my friend had in mind for their character, as are heavenly beings like angels, etc, unless they have something to do with the stars. Also, they specified that, if possible, the Patron is a good or at least neutral entity, if that helps.
What about having it be a star? At least, it looks like a star from whatever plant they’re standing on, but is actually some kind of higher being who just hangs out there, frozen in place, glowing brightly.
Thrn you can spelljam one day to go meet them in person.
If you got access to Spelljammer and Fizban's you might want to work up a Great Wyrm version of a Solar Dragon or a Great Wrym Crystal Dragon (that's actually a Ancient Crystal, all crystals are offered the Gem Great Wrym as something to work with). Both have stellar affinities. Solar Dragon's literally live inside stars.

Jander Sunstar is the thinking person's Drizzt, fight me.
I'm really liking these suggestions, personally, so thank you all very much! I especially like the idea of maybe a solar dragon or a star as the character's Patron, so hopefully, the friend who is making the character agrees, hehe.

You might want to do some digging around non-traditional mythologies (i.e. not Greek/Roman or Norse) for inspiration
In Hawaiian traditions, for instance, certain stars were seen as literal guides helping those traveling the ocean reach safety. The Tahitians had 10 stars they viewed as pillars holding up the sky like a roof, with each star/pillar associated with a specific characteristic
Another inspiration might be the Pleiades constellation. It's made up up six stars in a cluster, but in a wide variety of cultures, there are stories and myths of a seventh star or "sister" that we can't see. The Patron could be that "missing sister"

Ooh, this is pretty cool, I'll make a note of it for my bud for potential ideas. Thanks! ^_^
They could be receiving mystic wisdom from the stars themselves. (This leads to the question of what the stars want, of course, but that's on you.)
My first 5e character basically used this background: they were an apprentice astronomer who began receiving magical wisdom from the stars. Since it's a Celestial warlock instead of my GOO, the character doesn't even have to be deeply deluded about the nature of the power they've contacted. :)

I don't know much about the details (I mean, it's not my character, lol) but I do know that this character is apparently an amateur astronomer, and they came into contact with their Patron while they were stargazing one night. I like the idea that AntonSirius suggested about the "missing sister," and it got me thinking about a potential Patron for my friend's character.
How does this sound? The Patron is a living star, once a part of a cluster of other living stars until a magical cataclysm that occurred a long time ago on a distant world tore it from its "sisters" and it has been finding its way back to them ever since. Over the course of many centuries, it's been sailing the cosmos in search of its sisters, seeking companionship and help wherever possible. The warlock's companionship may be the term of their pact, and I could suggest a side-quest they can suggest to their DM about finding ancient star maps from a time when the star was still with its sisters, offering it a way back.

If any of that makes sense, lol.
Putting on my DM's hat, I'd be really enthused about that kind of Patron. For one thing, it could fit into almost any kind of campaign, which is always nice. Depending on how much interaction the player wanted on the RP side, I could give the Patron a fun personality, maybe lean into the "lonely Patron" idea and make them kind of annoying and clingy (even if only at night, when they can actually communicate with their new warlock), that sort of thing. There's also some possibilities with the "magical cataclysm" that could be brought into a campaign with any kind of wizard-y BBEG if you wanted a direct tie to the main plot, or a big arc -- maybe it turns out they're trying to, or inadvertently about to, bring about the same kind of cataclysm. Then there's the question of what's been happening with the other sister-stars since the separation... do they have their own warlocks or agents? How have they dealt with their isolation?
Lots to work with there!

I'm glad you liked it! And my buddy agreed with you, they thought it was a pretty cool idea as well, so we've been working together this past week to fine-tune the little details. They played a session with their DM recently and they had fun with the character, so...yay!
Also, apologies for the late reply -- was busy with the aforementioned fine-tuning, lol. ^_^

It might be worth having a look into the Mythic Odessys of Theros book (or just read up on the Theros setting form Magic the Gathering), all the gods there have a constellation of stars that represents them. Link to some fo the art work here: https://magic.gg/news/secret-lair-theros-stargazing-art-from-magic-world-championship-xxvi
Otherwise you could go for a d&d primordial patron and bring in Astreus who is a mythological titan, link to wiki here https://www.theoi.com/Titan/TitanAstraios.html

What about drawing inspiration from Neil Gaiman's Stardust. As Xalthu said, maybe a star itself.
