I want a sorlock, but I do NOT want a dip into Hexblade...I want at least 6 levels to get that Specter slave. The character is a nice guy, good alignment but his sorcery spark is tainted (Divine Soul sorc-tainted. bonus spell Inflict harm). I like the contrast of a nice guy making do with a lot of normally EVIL powers.
First of all: will a Hex/chain lock even work? Or am I stuck with Pact of the blade?
Secondly, would you go 4 levels of lock and then switch over to sorcerer and come back later for the specter? or just go straight to 6th?
You can certainly get a familiar over Pact of the Blade. Blade typically only helps you if you optimize around it, which you are not. Familiars are very versatile and can probably help any character.

Thank you all for helping. We started Friday night at 3rd level. We rolled '4 drop one' for stats, with a 32 point buy as a fallback. The dice have never been with me so I brought a point buy already figured out just in case. I rolled an 18, 17, 16, 14, 14, 11. I have never rolled that well before. I went with a variant human and took War-caster as my feat.
My plans have changed somewhat. I will go to 4th as a lock, and take just 4 levels of sorcerer after that. I will then complete the campaign as a lock. This way I can use Quicken spell to cast TWO eldritch blasts a round and burn sorcery spells for extra points.

Wait, I thought you said no hexblade? Either way, this seems to work well. Have you familiar scout etc. It's very useful.
