While looking through the Wizard Forums, has saw a lot of people talking about the school of Necromancy. Then I wondered, is Conjuration decent? What are your thoughts?
I’m having a ton of fun playing a Conjuration Wizard right now because of Minor Conjuration.
You need a shovel? Sure, here you go.
Wait! Let me create a piton to anchor that rope before you climb across it.
No one has a pot to boil water in? Ok, I’ll create one.
Those street thugs are threatening us? Ok, I create a glowing orb in my hand and cast Mage Hand and lift it up out of my hand. I succeeded on that intimidation check!
It isn’t a combat oriented ability, but it’s a ton of fun and it gives great flavor to my wizard. I’m only 4th level right now so I haven’t gotten to use any of the other abilities yet but I’m super eager to Benign Transposition!
When I last played a conjuration wizard it was a really heavy RP character, which was a blast. Minor Conjuration and Benign Transposition can have some really fun and creative combat uses as well. For instance I would often conjure large utensils on the ground next to me, and then use Catapult to send the recently-conjured spoon at my enemies. Granted it took 2 turns to do, but it was a great time.
At 10th level you can no longer have your concentration broken by damage (As long as you're casting a conjuration spell), which means concentration spells get real fun.
Sleet Storm
Evard's Black Tentacles
Conjure Elemental (Pop this before combat and have it follow you around for an hour)
My personal favorites.

Sure. Minor Conjuration gives utility out of combat and all the other features have useful combat applications.
