Here is the question: if, using the wish spell you could permanently (duration of “until dispelled”) be under the effect of a 8th level or lower buff spell without using concentration or material components, which spell would it be? haste ?investiture of flame? bless? Another one I haven’t thought of?
disclamer: it would be very unbalanced if this were actually a thing. I know that it is not RAW for a reason. This is not a house rule in any game I am playing or dming. Don’t worry.

Depends a little on the who and why, but the following might be good options:
Antimagic Field: Walking around as a permanent dead magic zone would be really, really interesting for anything less than a God-Killing campaign. (Especially if you get your hands on an Artifact, which can ignore the field.) Perhaps not worth the trade off of not being able to use magic, but if you're a Barbarian, then you've got other options.
A step down from that would be Globe of Invulnerability, which, if upcast to 8th level, would block spells of 7th level or lower in a 10ft radius. This option still lets you be targetted by restorative magic, if you let the caster get close to you.
Tenser's Transformation on a a fighter would net an extra 8d12 force damage per round. Spirit Shroud upcast to 8th level would probably be better.
Far Step would give you unlimited bonus action 60ft teleport, which is awesome, and would get a lot of mileage.
Shadow of Moil would be amazing as well. Permanently obscured, resistant to radiant, and creatures that hit you take 2d8 necrotic.
These are all great spells and ideas. antimagic field, regenerate, or far step are all really cool but unconventional ideas. A character/npc under these would be very dangerous. Globe of invulnerability sounds very powerful to be always on.

Just to point out, Globe of invulnerability would not stay with the creature that cast it. It is an immobile dome. So it would just stay in that one spot forever.
Foresight would be a great choice if not for it being 9th Level, though I would choose Invulnerability over Foresight personally. Limiting to 8th and lower spells, Haste would be my choice. Increased movement, increased AC and an extra action to make one more attack or do some other important task.
I'll second "Regenerate"...that will always be useful.
Also because the persistent effect won't inconvenience the character...sure; perpetual invisibility, haste or etherealness SOUNDS good at first...until you're run over by a wagon that doesn't see you...or you go crazy from not being able to touch physical objects anymore (or attacked by blink spiders!)...or you burn-out all your calories from being "alway on" with Haste, or have a heart attack.
All that exhaustion adds up...when it inevitably ends.
"Wish" will always try to scr*w you over when you try for more than basic spellcasting...these sorts of outcomes are what WILL happen, given time.
So true! Think how silly investiture of flame could get, some commoner slaps you on the back to congratulate you for saving the world and is incinerated. Cue being chased out of town by angry townsfolk...

Greater invisibility. Or glibness.
I have a weird sense of humor.
I also make maps.(That's a link)
That's hard, there are a lot of fun ones. Honestly, I'd have to go with holy aura, pass without trace, or wind walk.

Cool! Glibness looks fun to be under the effect of. Everyone will believe you, no matter what you say......

Etherealness might be fun, but it would have a few downsides to it.

Holy aura is awesome! Pass without trace is great for an infiltration wizard, and wind walk is very fast flying. Hard decisions for sure.

etherealness could be fun, but I don’t know if the downsides are worth it. Not being able to affect the material plane doesn’t sound super great.

Regenerate so I can be a poor man's version of Wolverine.

Haste, Enlarge/Reduce, andGlobe of invulnerability would all be fun.
Tiny servants cast at 7th level.
Itinerant Deputy Shire-reave Tomas Burrfoot - world walker, Raft-captain, speaker to his dead
Toddy Shelfungus- Rider of the Order of Ill Luck, Speaker to Friends of Friends, and Horribly big nosed
Jarl Archi of Jenisis Glade Fee- Noble Knight of the Dragonborn Goldcrest Clan, Sorcerer of the Noble Investigator;y; Knightly order of the Wolfhound
My first choice would be Foresight. After that Alter Self would be a lot of fun!

Oh, yeah, I get it. ; )
Half the fun of an "always on" spell is all the funny stuff that comes with it.
I'll also say "Fly"...transportation is no longer an issue!
