Hi all! Love D&D, love DnD Beyond, thank you for everything!
I was a little thrown by this response when I went to share my homebrew Urumi build- "This Item cannot be shared with the community for the following reasons: This homebrew Item has text that includes Non-english Language"
That seems a bit odd, and a sort of closed off way to determine eligibility for sharing. Especially when there are items with patently non-English names all over the place! There are plenty of other cultures out there that all the lovely D&D players of the world may want to bring into their games. Why force them to be given some sort of English-esque name just to be accessible to the community? This seems unintentionally exclusionary, and unnecessary.
Also, I would think that with all of the elves, dwarves, and gnomes going around creating items, that not all of them would automatically name their creations in Common. Why wouldn’t my +3 battleaxe of orc-slaying have a Dwarvish name?
Because the mods will not be automatically reviewing your submissions and would not have time to check things up of they were. You could be swearing, giving it a copyrighted name just in different language or something. The average joe not understanding the language will likely not add it or do so not caring what it actually says, just that its foreign to them and seems fancy. It's a way to ensure nothing slips past.

The issue with this "feature" is sometimes it blatantly doesn't work. I'm trying to make a homebrew subrace, and even though the entire thing is written in English, the website refuses to accept that it doesn't have "Non-English Language". I've even tryed making a subrace with literally nothing; no racial traits, and the name and description were both just "English", and that had "Non-English Language". I can understand the need for the moderators to understand what's being uploaded, but when the filter is straight-up broken, something needs to be done.
If you have some specific examples of homebrew content you've created that is being flagged as "non-English" then please let us know, so we can improve how this works.
Without specific examples, we can't do that. :)
If you can provide links to the homebrew here it would be appreciated (it doesn't need to be published for moderators or devs to be able to see it from the link).
So it's been nearly a month and I've seen no change in the state of my creations. They still show the "Non-English Language" error, despite having nothing but English words, especially in the case of the second one. Is anything actually being done about this, or is this issue on the backburner?
They aren't published, due to the issue that I was talking about. Apparently, according to the good Stormknight, Moderators can still view the links even if they aren't published.
Try sending them as a direct message to Stormknight. Sometimes things on forums fall through the cracks with busy moderators. That's worked for me in the past.
Ok, having looked at your homebrew subraces, I believe that the issue for both of them is the description field for the subrace.
On the Star Elf, the description field contains the text:
[PLACEHOLDER]
The system is assessing this as not being a valid description for a subrace that is ready to be published.
The message that you're seeing, "This homebrew Subrace has text that includes Non-english Language" should be improved in this context. We could definitely do a better job there.
The second example, the entire description is (as you stated):
English
Again, I believe that the system is assessing this as not being a valid description for the subrace, probably due to insufficient number of words, it knows that this isn't a good description for a subrace that is to be published. I tested by changing the description text to, "English description text that will hopefully flag this subrace as reasonable." and the red text was no longer displayed.
Overall, I believe that the system is working correctly, but the messages that it is displaying need to be more helpful and descriptive.
This is of massive help, in fact. Knowing that the issue was with the length of my descriptions and not the actual content, the error now makes a lot of sense. Thank you so much for investigating that issue, Stormknight.
I am still working on this druid subclass, and have noticed the non-english error alongside it being too similar to the circle of land (I used that as a template). I've gone over the things I've changed and I haven't seen anything that might be flagged as non-english, and the rest is official dnd content. Am I missing something?
Maybe its because speed, a necessary field, is left blank?

+1 on this. I think as long as it's written with the English Latin alphabet, I don't see why this should be an issue.
Also, I would think that with all of the elves, dwarves, and gnomes going around creating items, that not all of them would automatically name their creations in Common. Why wouldn’t my +3 battleaxe of orc-slaying have a Dwarvish name?

I can absolutely provide links.
The subrace I was trying to create:

My testing subrace that contains nothing but the word "English":

Huge apologies - Unruly_Cow is correct, it can be a little tricky to stay on top of all the threads on here at times. :)
I'm taking a look now!

I have a blank template with nothing in it, and I'm getting the same message; cannot publish due to non-english languages.
BUT THERE's NOTHING IN IT?!
I'm hoping this is a bug of some kind...
As explained above, the publishing system is designed for publishing completed homebrew and it will try to prevent you from publishing blank content.
