I think it might be helpful to add a filter option to the "Monsters" section of the site that allows you to filter for monsters with spellcasting features or those without. Perhaps it could have the option to filter out all spellcasting or non-spellcasting monsters, to discriminate between monsters that prepare spells from different class lists, and to find monsters with the Innate Spellcasting feature.
I agree. Honestly, it would be nice to be able to filter for all the common monster features listed in DMG (or was it MM?) like pack tactics or keen senses.
I too would love this. When homebrewing spell casters I have a hard time getting the balance right, so I usually have to sift through the MM looking for a caster of the CR I want and then spell swapping.
You can search for monsters with proficiency in Arcana to get most (if not all) of the spellcasting monsters.
I'd say it gets about half. It misses nearly all divine spellcasters, and still several arcane spellcasters. And I didn't even count innate spellcasters, otherwise it is down to about a quarter.
But that is only an estimate based on the search bar, since there is no way to actually search for spellcasters and do a proper count.
"Spell caster level" OR "Can cast spell" OR "Spell save" OR "Spell power" , etc
Anyone of those qualifiers would work.. the issue is.. they don't really store those things separately in the database so you can't really index on them
If they allowed you to search the whole monster, instead of just the name, then that would do it. There must be some technical reasons they can't do that.
You can use the search bar to find monsters with different versions of the spellcasting feature, but unfortunately the site's search option isn't very robust and doesn't allow you to see more than 35 results.

I am honestly surprised these are not features already. It is taking forever, to find a monster, any monster that knows fireball. I hope someone notices this feedback.
Chiming in to say I really want (I'm tempted to say need) this feature as well. Since I know use cases are helpful to the team, here's my current dilemma/issue that is leading me to post here:
I am working through a random encounter table/produce from a third party as I prepare for upcoming sessions I'll be DMing. One of the random encounter involves a "dark cleric." There are no stats given for the "dark cleric," and no official stat block is mentioned a a reference point. The only clue is that the clerics companions are undead. So I tried using the monster listings to find options, and have had to slog through a whole lot of entries that aren't applicable to what I need, because I can't specify that I'm looking for a spellcaster.
As an aside, another filter I'd like to see in the monsters listing is one that lets us filter out "named" NPCs. (e.g. Artis Cimber)
Trying to get your physical content on Beyond is like going to Microsoft and saying "I have a physical Playstation disk, give me a digital Xbox version!"
Hello,

The sifting is the worse part

Yeah, I still want this as well (and filtering out named NPCs and variants).

Alright, enough with the spam/bumps. It is annoying enough when it is 1 every couple months.
We get it. It is a good idea that you support, but this isn't how the forums work.
