It would be great if there was a tool to track the hit points of the ward. I know that Artificers for their Eldritch Cannons, they can track the hp, so why not implement the same tool for the wizard's ward? Would it be terribly difficult to add some kind of counter?
I find I still need to use pen and paper to track the ward, which seems counter-intuitive to the whole DND Beyond process.
In meantime you can consider creating a homebrew copy of the School of Abjuration subclass (you'll probs have to copy the description as that doesn't copy for some reason) and editing the Arcane Ward feature. You can edit the Action it uses - instead of 1 on Long Rest, change reset to Special, and change the Limited Uses: create an entry for each level from 1 to 20. The uses box would be double the level, leave operator at + (Addition) and set Stat to Int and level to the level. Now save, repeat for each level. Save the subclass.
On your sheet on Actions, go to Other or Limited Use and you'll see it there. If low level level it will be a set of empty boxes, fill these as you take damage and unfill when you heal or reset the ward. Eventually the boxes will be replaced with a number with - and + to change it.
And there you have a trackable Arcane Ward HP pool.
A bit clunky, and takes a few minutes to make, but it works dandy.

I personally recommend adding the actions as opposed to altering the existing action so that you have one Action track the activation and another to track the HP.

It would be helpful.
