I recently bought Ebberon: Rising from the last war, only to find that changelings have been nerfed beyond use. They have been made into a one trick pony with only their Shapechange left even remotely intact. A half-elf with a disguise kit and low level spell easily conco out with all the same perks AND MORE with little to no effort. What happend to divergent persona and unsettling visage? Literally the only abilities with uses outside of espionage... Not to mention espionage is not a key part of D&D as a whole... So PLEASE FIX THIS! No PC race deserves to be at this much of a disadvantage.
DDB is a distributor of d&d, not a developer. I fully agree with your statements, but there isn't much to be done now, the race was published in a physical book. I don't know why they nerfed it so hard (shapechange is still strictly better than a mere disguise though). They at least should have kept unsettling visage (it is literally an ability of the changeling monster).
I'm more saddened with the loss of Divergent Persona. It's basically broken my character's backstory and I'm going to have to make some changes to fix it.

You should talk with your Dungeon Master. There's no reason from a roleplay perspective that you can't still use that as a backstory.
Was it not published in a physical book before? I know Wayfarer's guide to Eberron was classified as UA material but I'll be honest I missed that classification. I bought it like a sourcebook and I thought that's what it was. My fault for not reading it all the way through but I feel there should be something that WOTC can do to fix changelings.
Thank you for acknowledging that the UA info was there but missed!
Changelings first appeared in Wayfinders in 5e, and by extension, in a UA pdf from Wizards. Eberron:Rising is the first 5e published book they appeared in.
I doubt WOTC will make updates again to the changelings, as the final version was based on playtest data. UA is often intentionally OP, and then ratcheted down for publication. I realize that you didn’t experience changelings as OP, and I’m not weighing in on whether or not the UA version was over powered, just commenting on general UA practice of WOTC during 53. F
The good news is that if you liked the UA version better, you can homebrew it here on DDB; you just can’t publish it here. As long as your DM is good with the UA version, then you are good to go.

This site doesn't do any of the development of the game, it just hosts the published content.
