So it seems that whenever I search forums there is almost never a hit. No matter how many iterations and combinations of words I try I end up having to manually dig and then eventually posting a new thread that's likely been asked before, but it's not coming up in the search function. I even put in single basic words such as "ration" and there were literally no results.
The site search bar is slightly more helpful, but I feel it could be optimized better. In my experience it seems that if I want to find something with its own specific heading (i.e. monster and spell names, conditions) it will come up pretty easily and within a page or so of results, but if I want something more detailed it will give a plethora of results not directly pertaining to what should be some of the top results.
Site search for "hunger" yields results for spells and adventures and says nothing about rules for starvation. "starve" yields the same types of results. "starvation" finally gives hints as to how to find the information as down the results a little bit it starts to refer to exhaustion and you can eventually get your answer by building your own roadmap.
All of the results that I got should have been there, but I think a better algorithm should be in place that puts the more likely results at or toward the top. If I'm looking for hunger, or starvation it should be obvious what I'm searching for, and If I'm truly looking for "Hunger of Hadar" and didn't feel like typing out the "of Hadar" part then it's only a few spots down the list.
I hope my rambling grievance makes sense. I have played for a while but this is my first time DMing and it's hard to find what I'm looking for digitally when the search function is working against me.
Thanks for your time.

Please, for the love of the gods, tell me how am I to balance DnD with the family and my son's travel hockey? HALP!
Yeah, the forum search in particular here is useless. What i do instead is do a google search that includes dndbeyond.com as part of the search parameters. so, for example:
Hunger dndbeyond.com
I find that works much better than the forum search, and sometimes better than the "search all" option.
I find for specifically searching forum using google I start with “dndbeyond forum X” and if I relementals someone who posted in there I also add their username. Helps google narrow it down better.

I'll have to start doing this until the site/forum searches are more refined. Thanks for the tip!
