I posted this in reply to a thread elsewhere, but thought maybe I should post it here as well.
How about selling "Character Sheet Packs" for those of us who don't want to subscribe, but want more than 6 sheets?
Maybe 6 sheets for $0.99 or 25 for $3.99? Something like that? These sheets could be archived and printed, but not deleted (thus people couldn't just buy 25 and reuse them).

You don't OWN your books on DDB: WotC can change them any time. What do you think will happen when OneD&D comes out?
They're definitely not going to give more character slots for less than the price of a single month's subscription. A year minimum maybe assuming they're open to the idea at all. But your best bet is to just subscribe if you want more slots.

Well, one difference would be that let's say I subscribe, and I make 25 characters. Then one day I decide I don't want, or can't really afford my subscription any more (who knows, maybe the cost of internet access went up, or I'm an American who doesn't have universal health care and I just got shot by someone who was allowed to buy multiple semi-automatic assault rifles because Murica), either way, once I stop paying the subscription I lose all but 6 of those characters.
Alternately, if I can buy a pack of character sheets, that can only be used once, unlike the 6 free ones that can be deleted and reused, I will always have them, whether I have a subscription or not.

No, they're only locked--and only until you re-subscribe. And you get to choose which ones to lock and which to keep.

Which is why they would probably cost at minimum 1 year's subscription.

Even if they're only locked, that's still useless if you don't want to subscribe anymore.
