Hey, me again, with unreasonable requests for the forums!
I would love, in my PbP games, to have my character's avatar included with each message I post. It would help me seeing the other characters, and I think it would help the other players, too. I could, of course, change my own forum-level avatar to the portrait of my character, sure, but then when I go to a non PbP thread, or go to another game I am playing in, the wrong avatar is showing.
So I'd like to request a new feature for the forums: thread-specific avatars, with a default avatar for when the thread does not have one selected.
I've tried to come up with other solutions, and they all seem even more complicated, but also less automatic, and so easily forgotten when you're posting in your game thread. I did think I might use the signatures/footer, but even before trying it out (can you put images in your sig?) I decided against it, since a) it is at the bottom of the post, and I'd like this to set the stage of which character is playing at the top, and b) sigs are DDB-wide, not specific to the PbP game thread itself. Of course, in my secret heart I am hoping the eventual campaign tools will include a forum like interface, so PbP games can move to the campaign structure, and thus be tied to your character more closely (with portraits, stats, etc.). But that's in my secret heart, and the campaign tools are a long way off.
Thanks!

ey/em/eirs, or they/them works, too (just not he). Role-playing since that keep on those borderlands. I love it so.
I know several month ago when we were still in beta, hartless mentioned in the future being able to do something like this. But it seemed even cooler, about being able to post as a character that you have created in the character builder and being able to select attacks and roll checks through your character into a pbp game, and i would assume this would then also work like you have mentioned above and might take your characters picture and name and post as that
Now i know this was several months ago and things might have changed a lot since then, and there isn't a massive market for the pbp games but maybe once everything settles down they might be able to get to this because it would be awesome
Edit: I actually found the quote, check it out here
Yep, still want to do that, I just have to find time to work it in - mostly in my free time - since we still have a lot of other core modules to build that are a higher priority for us.
