While viewing your character sheet, you may notice a little green arrow next to your character name. If you click this arrow, you will see a drop down menu. This menu will contain the item, "Manage Experience".
When you edit your character (by clicking the Manage levels), on the builder page, navigate to the 1st screen/tab - will say Home with a little house symbol. On that page, you should see Advancement type, change Milestone to XP.
Navigate back to the character sheet, by clicking the sheet icon in that same top row of icons/tabs (after What's Next). Once back on the sheet, you should then see the Manage Experience Sedge was referring to in the drop down from the character's name.
I am having a problem with managing exp and levels, when I put the exp and it goes over level 1, it doesn't update anything. I have 665 exp and my character is still level 1.
Nevermind, I found out you need manually change the level under class, setting level inside the "manage exp" doesn't do anything.
Is there no way to change the amount of xp needed per level?
There is not. D&D Beyond supports the official rules of D&D 5th Edition, which states the amount of XP required to gain levels. Hope that clarification helps!
Does anybody know how to add Xp to their character sheet?

Click this item and manage away!

For that you'd probably need to track XP manually and just "milestone" level when appropriate.
That's a pretty good idea.
I just there was a way because it's nice to have the aesthetic of the xp bar on the dnd beyond character sheet lol
Thank You! This really helped me I followed along, and whenever I had a question, I just scrolled down, and the answer was there! Thanks again! :)
Is this feature still around-I can't seem to find it?
How do I add experience points when I have two classes? It only adds it like I have kne
The experience point cost to gain a level is always based on your total character level, as shown in the Character Advancement table, not your level in a particular class. So, if you are a cleric 6/fighter 1, you must gain enough XP to reach 8th level before you can take your second level as a fighter or your seventh level as a cleric.
