I was trying to make a homebrew race based on illusions and stuff, and wanted to add a "You gain proficiency with two of the following skills of your choice: Deception, Insight, Intimidation, and Persuasion." but I couldn't, why is that? Do I have to pay?
You don't have to pay. You have to set it up as two separate traits, each with the same set of option choices. Here is a link to screenshots from a homebrew race I made which allows for a choice two proficiencies from a larger list. (Imbedding the imaes doesn't seem to be working)
I'm not sure what you mean by "change." If you build the homebrew race properly, choose it in the character builder, and make all the choices it asks you to, it will show up properly on the sheet and when you print it out.
