Im trying to create a new charather. A Necromancer. But when I have choosen wizard and at 2th lvl, I cant choose a school of Necomancer, only evocation.
Why is that and what can I do to create a necromancer.
Im DM and my party is lvl 2 and im trying to create a charather for a new player that will join us.
It's possibly something off with the campaign for sharing content. Did you buy the players handbook (PHB) or does the DM not own the PHB or isn't sharing his content in the campaign? Necromancer should be a subclass available from the PHB.
School of Evocation is part of the SRD/Basic Rules, so you had access to that class for free. All of the other schools/traditions require you to own the digital source on here before creating one. The only exception is if someone in your campaign owns the source and has a Master tier subscription so they can share content.
You don't have to buy the whole PHB, though. If you go to the PHB page on the marketplace and scroll down, you can buy just the necromancer subclass for $1.99. Similarly, if you need some of the spells, you can buy spells individually or all the spells from the book as a bundle within that book. And it'll count towards the cost of the full book if you want to buy it later.
Hi so I am a player in a campaign and my DM is sharing the books such as phb, monster manual, Tasha's cauldron and Xanathars guide but I'm still only getting one choice for the school and feats. Sometimes I don't get a option for a feat. Is there something we missed or is this a app error? Thank you in advance

Hi and thx for a fast reply. Im the DM and im the one creating the chararthers. Im not set up as a DM in dnd beyond and I have not bought the PHB.
Im a free user and I use to be a player where I created a wizard evocation. That was no problem to create that one.
Do I really need to buy the digital version of the PHB before I can create a subclass necromancer?
Thx in advance

In short; the answer is "yes"
Ahh, okay thx for the help. Have a great day.

Are you making the character within the campaign in which the sharing is happening?
I realized it's only shared through the campaign and not through the app entirely. My bad 🤣 thank you also
I bought the physical. PHB brand new. Is there a way to link them? Why is it so expensive for the digital on top of the physical that I already own???
Is it still possible to buy only subclass?
No. Books only.
