we need more than 12 players in a campaign. We started a west marches project with min 5 dungeon masters and over 25+ players and would like to put that all in one place. Nearly every dm as a subscription running and there are a lot that have several or even all books buyed online on beyond. Is there a way to enable this or do we have to switch to another platform?
With a single master tier subscription, a user can enable content sharing for up to 60 players with up to 99 characters each:
A single master tier subscription can be used to enable content sharing on up to 5 campaigns
A campaign with content sharing enabled can have up to 12 unique players
Each player can have up to 99 characters in that campaign
There is no 'West Marches' mode to enable, or way to get more than 60 sharing 'slots' beyond purchasing a additional subscriptions on additional accounts
If you want to use the My Encounters tool with a West Marches style group, or utilize the AboveVTT browser extension, you have to get fairly complicated with character management between multiple campaigns.
If you have 5 DMs, each should run their own campaign. If PCs need to swap from DM 1 to DM 2, they'll need to leave and join campaign to campaign. Whichever session they're in that day, they click on the invite link (posted somewhere easily accessible by your group) to join that campaign.
For 5 campaigns, you'll need 1 person to have a Master Tier subscription, enabled for all 5 groups. It would be cool if this is the person that has access to the most purchased content. Or the person with the most purchased content is also the homebrew guru. One person should be in all 5 campaigns that keeps the collection of homebrew materials, either added to your collection from the community or homebrewed from scratch to fit the world. I am the homebrew guru for my West Marches campaign.
Each of the campaigns can now hold up to 10 players. Swapping a PC between different campaigns isn't difficult especially if you have a decent amount of community management on discord or wherever.
This might pose an issue if a DM is wanting to prebuild encounters and one, or some, of his expected PCs are in a different campaign right now. DMs will have to consider that if using the encounter building tool.
If your group's player base has a lot of PCs for each player, you might need to get even more complex. You'll need placeholder campaigns, campaigns that still enable some content sharing and access to the group's homebrew. The homebrew guy will need a subscription to have more characters to put in those placeholder campaigns. You might need to get creative with content sharing. But at most, that's two people with Master tier subscriptions (would any group need more than ten 10-person campaigns worth to manage?). If someone has the Legendary Bundle, that person should be in every campaign.
