I'm a complete DnD noob, but there's a group starting up at work and I wanted to give it a try. I was recommended this site's character builder by our DM. I'm trying to make a Half-Orc Barbarian and I got to adding my proficiencies. I want them to be Strength Athletics and Intimidation but the tool won't let me select Intimidation from the dropdown.
Sorry in advance if I've misunderstood something. I plan to get the 5e Players Handbook soon but don't have it on hand right now to doublecheck things.
almost always when you are unable to select an allowed proficiency, it's because your character already has it.
The Barbarian class page shows the valid proficiencies you can select from - the character builder will show you all of those in the dropdown, unless you have already selected or gained them elsewhere in the character building process.
In this case, as Filcat states, you gain the proficiency in Intimidation for free for being a Half-Orc.
Good luck with your character and have fun on D&D Beyond!
Yep, I was just reading up more on Half-Orcs and realised. Thank you very much for steering me in the right direction. Looks like I get to take a 3rd Proficiency then!
Admin can close this if they want!
Thanks again :)

Half-Orcs get Intimidation proficiency directly with the racial feature.
