You didn't misread it - it clearly stated you should have had early access.
Incredibly frustrating. They are now starting to just delete comments in their discord about the issues in the feedback channel and issuing warnings. First time I pre ordered, and definitely going to be the last. I already requested a refund for it.
Figured I'd add my dissatisfaction to this thread too. I've done the digital only pre-order for many of the books in the past and have always gotten them at early access. Very frustrated and I probably won't do it again.
I’m a relatively new DM but I’m currently running PaB:TSO for a group of friends and I preordered the digital only on March 14th solely because it stated there would be early access on May 7th and I figured I could use it as the next part of our campaign since they’re almost done. I’m in highschool, I payed what is a somewhat significant amount of money (for me) to be able to access content and WoTC screwed me over. Not happy.
Discord's also silent. One of the moderators was SUPER unhelpful - although LaTia J was great, and answered as much as I guess she could.
Where does all the money from these $30-60 PDFs go? Certainly not toward staffing PR, CS, or the art department. This is wild behavior for a company of this size.
ANY PR professional should have caught the inaccurate advertising that was on every major gaming news site. They could have sent an email asking the news source to correct the information and then posted clarification. (But then again, a PR professional would have issued a better press package in the first place that wasn't so poorly worded.)
What y'all seem to have done is let those news outlets send you customers and preorders, and then wipe your hands of any responsibility once everyone's rightfully upset.
If I own a hot dog stand and I tell the local paper, "Buy one get one free for new customers," and they print, "Free hot dogs for new customers," I have two options (no matter what the signage on my stand says). I can either:
A) Take the time and initiative to read the incorrect ad in the paper, ask them to correct it, and issue early clarification to my customers along with an apology; or
B) let 200 people show up to my hot dog stand expecting their free hot dog and wave my tongs in the air yelling, "It's not my fault! I can't control third party news sources!"
Thanks once again to the amazing LaTia from the Discord. <3 It's not your fault this company can't seem to stay trustworthy.
Not sure if it's the same issue as everyone else, but when I tried to use the activation key I was provided for the Digital version, I get the "The code you entered is not valid." message.
Putting myself on board here with "When I ordered the digital bundle on FEB18, it clearly stated that I would receive early access". I suppose Hasbro/WotC now wants to add FALSE ADVERTISING to the amazing public image they already have with the buzzwords "Pinkertons, AI Art, OGL, and Christmas Firings".
You won't receive access, unfortunately, if you only bought digital. They advertised that early access would be included and let their promise of early access stay up on every website who reported on VEoR, and then rescinded it for not only everyone who paid for digital only but also everyone who bought the bundle after April 30. They took our money and that was the end of that. :)
Like many of you, I'm in the same boat. I'm in the U.S. I pre-ordered back in Feb. I ordered digital only. I could've sworn they promised early release in May 7.
I opened a support ticket and was told:
Early Access for Vecna: Eve of Ruin was only available for Physical & Digital bundle orders placed prior to April 30th, 2024 via the D&D Store. For more information about Pre-Orders, please see: Pre-Order FAQ.
Question: does anybody have any proof / screenshots from the DDB website showing the promised May 7th date?
screenrant and tabletopgamingnews both had articles stating early access for preorders not just the bundle, with links to the preorder site which suddenly changed to the new verbiage within the past week. It is basically a bait and switch tactic that was pulled, and no one wants to own up to it. Even the new Copilot AI revealed
Certainly! If you pre-ordered Vecna: Eve of Ruin on D&D Beyond, you gained early access to its content starting May 7, 2024—which is two full weeks before the official release date. That’s quite the head start for eager adventurers! 🌟
In addition to early access, pre-ordering this new Dungeons & Dragons adventure book also granted you extra bonuses, including:
A special digital dice set
11 frames
4 backdrops
These exclusive perks enhance your experience as you delve into the multiverse-spanning storyline of Vecna and the fate of existence itself! Whether you’re a player or a Dungeon Master, these bonuses add a touch of magic to your campaign. 🎲🔮
I have also opened a support ticket and as I'm very annoyed I'm going to request a refund. No idea if I'll get it or not. I would suggest others do the same to give this wretched company a financial incentive to play fair.
Hope this helps, go back to original order email it will say if it came with any perks click here I followed that link and was able to unlock my vecna order hope it helps

OH GLAD TO KNOW I HAVE ACCESS TO THE VECNA DOSSIER. THANKS WOTC YOU SHOULDN'T HAVEEEEEEEE
ughhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Would really prefer that they do not advertise what they can not provide. Purchased on 2/13/2024 unable to early access...
Sharing Gamemasters experience because it's a great summary of this poor practice.

If I don't have access to the preorder in the next 24 hours I'm going to the Department of Fair Trading. If life wasn't so busy I'd go earlier.
This is a clear bait and switch, false advertising and just really poor customer service.
it's may 8th for me now..... still nothing
Just adding to the topic.

Same problem here.. I have not yet received access even If I payed for the pre order in February

I opened a support ticket.. I am afraid I will get the same response.
Sadly I do not have SS but I found this video on youtube with a lot of evidence:
