I took the Dual Wielder feat intending to hold a rapier in my main hand and dual wield a staff. However, when clicking customize for the staff, no check box appears for dual wield, but it does for the rapier.
What am I doing wrong? Is it possible that because staffs have the versatile property it isn't registering properly? I'm not intending to two hand the staff.
If the staff is a magic item, it may be set as "Item: Staff" instead of "Weapon: Quarterstaff". Only the latter has the checkbox.
You make a copy of the staff and change its type or you can just add a quarterstaff and customise to rename it and set weight to 0 (which is easier).

I actually did find this to be the case when searching further. Apparently there's a difference between staffs (an arcane focus) and quarterstaffs (a weapon). All staffs are a quarterstaff. Not all quarterstaffs are an arcane focus! Not sure why it makes a difference for the dual wielder feat 🤔
The staff I was taking is the staff of power. I ended up grabbing a quarterstaff, renaming it and putting it as my dual wielding weapon, while also just having the staff of power equipped to get the bonuses.
