So, I'm wanting to make an artificer, which I have access to thanks to some past purchases on here, and I wanted to use the Guild Artisan background, and I don't seem to have that, yet according to my friend who is helping me make my sheet it should be there.
When I try to find it it tells me it's legacy content then just kicks me over to the listing for the 2014 rule book, and I can't look at individual parts of it and it won't even let me select digital, yet I don't really want to purchase the whole thing.

The Guild Artisan background is from the 2014 Player's Handbook. Do you own that book on D&D Beyond?
If you do, make sure "2014 Rules" is check in the Home tab of the character builder. You should see it show up in the background choices.
If you don't, you'll need to purchase that book or be making the character in a content-sharing campaign with someone else who owns it.
There is also a similar "Artisan" background in the 2024 Player's Handbook.
I do not and I'm hating that I can't buy just that bit now.
Yeah, unfortunately they got rid of that feature last year. Baffling decision on their part, honestly.
April 2024 is not "last year" yet. 🤣

Extremely, I don't need the whole dang book in this case.
