I've made them in both campaigns and without campaigns. But oddly it seems a problem with my phone as I was able to access the inventory management on my ipad, so not sure.
I have tried turning off all homebrew (in fact I turned off all options in the character settings) and for some reason every character I make still can't access the in app inventory management (have to edit on website). However, all of my players in my content sharing enabled campaigns can still access inventory management. Its something specific to my phone as I can access it on my ipad (though it has the calibration wheel issue whenever I use the dndbeyond app, so I cant use that as my primary device). Still not sure how to fix it as clearing cache, re-installing app, etc all do nothing to fix the issue either.
Some of what you described seems contrary to my findings. The issue might be different for each of us, or per device, but for the character's you've made where you can't access the inventory, did you possibly make them in a different campaign? Or are they campaignless?

I think you're on to something with the comments on Android; I'm also on a Pixel 8 Pro and Fire tablet and both have the issue.
Update: this is now working for me again. I haven't seen the DNDBeyond app update, though I did update my Android version to the latest security update. I'm not sure if that matters. If you're affected by this bug and can apply the April security update, do it and see if your Inventory works now!

Yeah, mine and all my players are back up and working.
All should be normal. DNDBeyond did mention this in the app Changelog.
All working now. I am glad they got this fixed.
