Prior to the January 20th update, when customizing an item you could only type whole numbers into the fields for Cost Override and Weight Override but were not allowed to use decimals. Now, you can type a value like 0.1 and it will stick, so that field was changed from integer to decimal which is probably what wiped all the values. It seems likely this bug is a result of the changes to how those fields worked though I don't get why Name and Notes also disappeared as a result.
It is now 14 days of customer data loss since this bug was introduced. It is frankly insane that the accidental mass deletion of user data is not at the top of the priority list. At this point, my group are working through what needs to be fixed on our character sheets but the Party Inventory has close to one hundred of items with over five years of data entry that is still missing since we moved several things out of our sheets into it with excitement when that feature was introduced. Most of that cannot be rebuilt from memory. As much as the CM is trying to help in these threads, the developers need to speak up and say something by this point.

I'm not asking for an individual reply like a special snowflake. After over two weeks of data loss, an update on how they plan to resolve the issue is not an unreasonable request even if it must come through a third party.

I'm serious. Corporate culture is that game & web designers are not allowed to view or interact w/fandom.
Though I agree that the recent hesitancy to commit to posting timetables post-shakeup of WotC leadership, & post-DND being unfavorable for shareholders to mention, is frustrating.
I THINK it's because of the failure to meet Sigil(Contributing to its death) & Maps timetables, causing a hesitancy(likely ordered on high by Hasbro executives) on commitment to "done by"-dates, but now everything is instead of vague times of year.
hey, do you know what sucks? losing internet for two days when you're trying to resolve a time-sensitive issue. this is what happened to me. please level your curses at [REDACTED INTERNET COMPANY].
Joking aside, I apologize for my delay in responding here. I have been working with the DDB folks on a resolution and we are nearly there.

Looks like some of the character sheets in my campaign are now seeing their coins back in their containers. :)
At first it was only one sheet fixed, but by the next day two more had also been resolved. There are still maybe 5 - 6 other sheets that continue to show zero coins in their containers, but for some of them this may have been the case to begin with, need to confirm w/ the players. It seems like the 3 characters with the most amount of 'missing' currency have had theirs restored.
Good to see this getting addressed and relieved the data wasn't lost. Maybe others affected will also be seeing a fix soon? Guessing it may roll out over time since I saw only 1 fix at first then the next 2 after a day or so.
Thx LT for escalating this, and really hope it resolves on all fronts for everyone else.
We are now starting the fifth week since over five years of campaign data has been deleted from our Party Inventory. Since then, there have been two updates to the maps feature but still no update on what the plan is to fix this customization situation. I had also opened a support ticket asking for a manual rollback for just our campaign but that was treated like a client-side issue where I was merely advised to clear my cache or cookies, try different browsers, things that are not relevant to this bug. As someone who has worked in IT where customer data was paid to be hosted, any sort of data loss would be drop everything, all hands on deck until it was restored.
This response of indifference and silence about the matter is truly baffling. We are at the point where for the first time in seven years and over a thousand dollars spent, our group is considering letting our subscriptions expire and abandoning this platform.

Did you try the "add 1 coin" fix?
Or are you ascribing malice for not being personally catered to?
WotC has ALWAYS been bad at communications, buddy. These cases are not special.
& given the amount of chaos going on at WotC right now due to an ongoing lawsuit, I think the comms team has MORE than enough to deal with than personally attending to a YouTuber(If you're THAT Insight Check)

Does any one have an update as to when custom names and notes are going to be undeleted? The 1gold trick suggested does nothing to bring back old names or note customization which got deleted in the patch and there has not been any follow up since the fix was stated to be nearly there almost a month ago! Did not mean to sound snarky, just some clarity would be helpful thanks!
We are now at 45 days since the notes in our Party Inventory have been wiped. The previous posts relaying a message from the team said "Rest assured that this was an unintentional side effect of this week's maintenance, and we can confirm no data was deleted." As another poster pointed out above, in February 6th the next message said the DDB team was working with the CM for a resolution that was nearly completed. It is now March 6th and our notes are still gone. Far too much time has passed to roll anything back for all users so I am left wondering what could possibly happen to still resolve this. Will this be fixed or has this issue been officially dropped?
At my table, we waited over a month for a fix that never came then finally tried to play again the other day only to suffer from performance issues due to the dice, as reported in other threads. This is such a disheartening experience with D&D Beyond in 2026 compared to the past. Thank you for any update. This silence is deafening.

Yeah, I'm going to say it.
Given that a fix was implemented that affected the hypermajority of users(Not the coin thing), I think you're going to need to open up a support ticket & wait, because you aren't going to get personalized treatment.

sorry for the bother but I had been recently using the new Shifter Species from Eberron, forge of the artificer character and I am unable to choose the Shifting Trait that I want to use for my characters. The old one works fine but the new one doesn’t have that option even though it tells you to choose one. What should I do?

It's a bit unsettling that you have gone so far as to attempt to dox me (no relation to whoever you are talking about on YouTube) and keep replying to my posts as if you speak with any authority on behalf of the D&D Beyond team or are some kind of a community manager.
This thread is still a sticky. There has been no reply in a month and the last update says it is still being worked on. I have an open support ticket since this incident happened (which keeps closing due to inactivity on WoTC's end) and the most recent reply I received on that ticket says specifically to keep an eye on this thread and the official changelog. Therefore, it is not unreasonable for me to request an update on the issue in the thread I was directed to look for updates by support, from someone who actually has the authority and information to speak on behalf of the people who know the reality of the situation and not merely conjecture presented in a hostile manner.

Quick Fix for the coin problem: add 1 coin and then refresh and/or reload the sheet.
