Ah okay, thanks! I was hoping it was something I could access through the standard character creator given it is available in the compendium as a warlock class. Was hoping to select it as my otherworldly patron / class

There's no such thing as a Kraken sub-class in official content for 5th Edition.
You're either mistaking something or looking at homebrew.
The only official Warlock sub-classes are: The Archfey, The Celestial, The Fiend, The Great Old One, The Hexblade and The Undying.
There is no option for selecting a specific being as the patron: the warlock subclasses are "types" of Patron. They list some examples but ultimately, the decision of which specific patron is irrelevant beyond thematics (it would be weird to use The Archfey subclass if your patron is a demon in Hell, for instance, but with some RP fluffery you can make it work). Two people with the same subclass can have very different patrons: one Hexblade could be a death god like Raven Queen while another could be a war god or even an elvish archfey yet still be Hexblade instead of Archey if they wanted (nobody says the fey and elves can't like swords!).
So, no Warlock patron is limited to a specific being, like a Kraken. You can declare the Kraken as your patron, but that is an RP thing, not a mechanics thing: it does not dictate what subclass you pick. There are more clear thematic choices (Great Old One or possibly Hexblade) but ultimately you can choose Kraken patron and any of the subclasses you want. Even Archfey can work: just fluff some descriptions.
Patron: RP fluff, good for the RP, irrelevant for the mechanics.
Subclass: What powers and gifts your patron gives you as part of your pact with them. Irrelevant for RP as you can fluff descriptions how you need, but important for the mechanics.

how do I get the warlock kraken in the character builder?
You create it with homebrew.
Old UA (I assume this is what you mean) aren't on DDB.

Where in the compendium?
The great old one warlock could apply to a kraken patron.

Actually it is Unearthed Arcana warlock lurker in the deep subclass.
Probably not since this post is 19 months old and that UA is 16 months old...
