Sorry if this seems obvious, but I cannot figure out how to add notes or highlights to the phb or the essential kit adventures that I purchased. Where do I find how to do this?
Thank you for any help!
As a side question so I don't have to start another thread - besides zooming up to above 230% on pc, how do I get rid of the side panel when reading books. That panel is very distracting.
I'd love to buy more content here, but until I figure out these two things, I'm going to have to pass which is really bumming me out.
You can't make notes in the compendium (it might have been added to future plans). You can make notes in the campaign page.
The sidebar is for navigation. They might add the option to hide it in the future, but every request ive seen before this was to add to it, not hide it. (It is not a bad idea though)
(And just an FYI, the passive-agressive I-won't-give-you-money-until-you-add-what-I-ask type of line does nothing.)
I don't know what the compendium is, nor what campaign pages are. I was asking about the corebooks and the adventures as they are called on the webpages here on dndbeyond.com I find the info on.
Also, what's up with making up a quote and then accusing me demanding labor or I won't pay? I never came close to saying anything like that. What I was trying to convey to the company, that I asked this question to on their own official support forum, was that I understand I've only paid for $15 worth of content here as I used the coupons in the Essential Kit I bought, and I'm not asking for support just off of that little bit. I was just trying to make it clear that I was interested in purchasing more, and all I require is a couple yes or no answers to my questions. I figured them knowing that I wanted to spend more money might be incentive enough to answer my questions. Note: I already own all the corebooks twice, both hardbacks and on fantasy grounds, plus numerous adventures both ways also (this isn't a humble brag, btw - trying be proactive here) so I only want to buy a third time if it will work out for me. I see no problem with this.
But since you, DxJxC, have over 5000 posts here, and feel emboldened to make false accusations against a new customer with impunity, I have to believe that you have implicit permission to behave as such in an official capacity. Unless I hear otherwise, I will take the above response as the last official word.
Thank you for asking your questions. I think it’s wise to check these kinds of things out before investing too much. DDB has been great for me. i went slow on purchases (I got in on the public beta) so I knew what i was getting when I purchased. I sometimes see posts here from folks who dropped a lot of money before they made sure DDB would do what they needed or wanted from it, and then are disappointed to discover that it doesn’t. I am always sorry they didn’t ask more questions early on
To get to your specific questions. There is currently no way to highlight or make notes in the “book.”
“Compendium” is the term DDB uses for the electronic versions of the books, the ones you get to by choosing Sources in the menu above.
campaign pages are pages you can set up here to organize a campaign. The DM creates the campaign here. Players who have DDB accounts (including free ones) can join the campaign with their characters. DMs can also add characters. There are two notes sections, one for notes for the DMs eyes only, one that players can see but not edit (only the DM can). Campaign pages are also the place folks with a Master Tier sub can turn on content sharing. You can create a campaign (and see the ones you have joined) by going to Creations>Campaigns.
There is no way to collapse the sidebar that functions as a table of contents. I can see it would be nice. If you have an android or apple tablet or phone, you can get the DDB app which is free, You can download any purchased content into the app, and you may find it a better reading experience. The app doesn’t support character sheets yet, but it can be handy for access to the “books” aka compendiums.
I meant for my comments to be informative, not offensive. And I don't speak in any official sense, only mods and devs do.
I didnt mean the quotation to indicate a direct quote, but more as an abridged interpretation of your statement (I have edited it to better represent my meaning. I hope). I see a lot of similar statements from other users (I read a looooot of threads here, and I sometimes dont spend as much time getting my phrasing right as I should).

Hi I would just like to add that I think it is an excellent idea for some sort of pop-up note adding on source books. It would make it some much easier to make changes to adventurers. Please please PRETTTY PLEASE.
I too think it would be great to have the ability to add notes to the Compendium. I use it heavily for running my campaigns and I find it difficult to have to make notes in another location and keep track of where they go. It would be great to have it all in one place.
