I’m DMing a one-off of Tomb of Horrors. It became a 2 nighter but one of my players can’t attend session 2 so we decided to let my brother play his character. How can I transfer the character from one player to another?
Marekzan is correct, the player who owns the character is the only one able to Unassign it. I would ask the player who cannot return for the second game to quickly mark the character as Unassigned. :)
Character has already been assigned to a player. Current Player can’t attend session. New player wants to use currently assigned character.
How do I unassign a currently used character and transfer it to another player?
Like the others mentioned, only the character's owner can unassign it. You can have the player log in and do that real quick or the DM will have to control the character sheet.
Thanks all. Tried to unassign it as DM but that didn’t work. As the non-attending player didn’t respond we made a manual copy instead. Next time ill try the unassign by currently assigned player.
I can't find a way to place a character I created into a campaign. I made a character in my DM account, but there's no link to add to a campaign. Looking like I'll just have to re-make it in the campaign.

No need to do that; click "copy link" just under the invitation link on the campaign page; paste that link into the url bar of a browser and hit return. You will taken to the same page that your players see, and given the choice of adding a character or making one in the campaign.

There are a lot of threads asking and explaining how to do that, you just happened to necro one about something completely different...

Add to campaign unassigned. New player claims character.

AFAIK the player who assigned a char to hisself has to unassign it first.
EDIT: The unassign option is only visible in the corresponding campaign details page.
