I can make a character well enough, but when I try to add feats I only am able to choose from firearm specialist and grappler it's not showing me another. anybody know anything about this?

Additional feats are not part of the D&D 5th edition SRD and will need to be unlocked from the marketplace before you can use it on D&D Beyond.
You may also purchase individual races, subclasses, feats & magic items from the marketplace - should you later wish to purchase the sourcebook that they came from, any such individual purchases are fully discounted from the price of the sourcebook. You are also welcome to create your own content using the D&D Beyond homebrew tools.
You know what's funny about all the people who post this issue? If you go to the feats listing and click on a feat, it will tell you what book you need to buy if you don't have it. It only takes 3 clicks in the menu to get the answer yourself.

They presumably just try to add a feat to their character from the character builder itself, and are confused when options aren't listed there.
I don't have any physical books or non-ddb resources. If it weren't for the feat listing, I wouldn't know I was missing options.
Then again, if I did have a physical book, my first thought would probably be: "Huh, this site doesn't have all the options in the ~30$ book for free. I wonder what determines what is free and what isn't." Then I would go to the FAQ (conveniently found at the bottom of every page), and hey look "what can I access for free?" is one of the questions.
But I am an overly logical person who likes solving problems. I recognize that most people don't think the way I do and would rather just Google the answer (wait a minute, why didn't they try that?).
I see the feats list but there is nothing saying I have to buy a book or anything does give a source reference but that is it. And from the class section, it does not even show the feats that need to be bought so don't have a clue from that point either. In other words, no there is no way to know that it is not just some mistake.

You must be one of those people V2Blast mentioned 2 years ago who don't know about the feat listing page (which can either be found under game rules or just click the like they posted). Like all context to what I was talking about was mentioned 2 years ago, why didn't you read it before replying to my 2 year old comment in this dead thread?
No need to get angry. Like I said, there is nothing on that page to say you had to buy anything, as in I was looking at that page as I was typing the comment. My first words even were "I see the feats list."

Maybe I misunderstood. You said whatever list you were on doesn't tell you the sourcebook. The feat list V2Blast links does, so I assumed you were in the wrong list. You also mentioned a "class section" which sounds like the character builder which, again, is not the place we mentioned and linked.
Your whole comment never described what is seen on the feats list, so I naturally assumed you were on a different list.
And I wasn't angry, just disappointed.
So lets start over, for what reason did you necro this dead/resolved thread? Did you have new info to add? Or a question about the answer?
when you go to yoru character and hit manage feats for me at least only two appear, grappler and this weird deep gnome thing, my DM has bought a vats majority of the source books and shared them with the campaign yet I still can't access any feats beside the two previously listed, turning off prerequisites doesn't help and neither has anything else already posted in the forums

Is your character in the campaign where content sharing is enabled?

Additional feats are not part of the D&D 5th edition SRD and will need to be unlocked from the marketplace before you can use it on D&D Beyond.
D&D Beyond can be used for free and contains information from the following "free to use" sources published by Wizards of the Coast: D&D 5th edition SRD, D&D 5th edition Basic Rules, and Elemental Evil Companion.
Content from other sources, such as the Player's Handbook, Dungeon Master's Guide, or Monster Manual, will need to be purchased from the Marketplace or accessed via another user sharing content with you via their Master Tier Subscription.
You may also purchase individual races, subclasses, feats & magic items from the marketplace - should you later wish to purchase the sourcebook that they came from, any such individual purchases are fully discounted from the price of the sourcebook. Most people who ask probably don't know the feats listing even exists: https://www.dndbeyond.com/feats
