When I bought it, it claimed to have the information for all of the gem dragons including for the character builder. I only see the stat block for the adult sapphire dragon and nothing in the character builder.....I bought this thinking I could play a dragon..I feel ripped off.

That is your mistake for not reading it properly.
This was to unclock a specific monster statblock and contain history-based info on other gem dragons. Which, you get. You look up the monster in the monster search and you can see all the promised details.
This isn't a playable race and was not advertised as such. It does mention character builder but that is in reference to the Extras tab so you can bring up the stats if using True Polymorph or Shapeshange spells or similar.
It is clearly listed as as a statblock. Literally the first sentence: "This purchase unlocks the Sapphire Dragon stat block for use with D&D Beyond".
I knew exactly what I was getting when I purchased it and was given exactly what was promised. Do not blame D&D Beyond for your misreading.

If you paid anything for it, you were ripped off, I have access to it right now for a charge of zero, and the Extra tab is Not something you can manage without finishing the character, thus not part of the "Character Creation" so maybe the suggestion that the wording needs to be fix is still valid, and the feeling of being ripped off is as well because again.... paid nothing and I have access to "Adult sapphire dragon" and all the history details, so calm yourself and realize you have wasted money, and should feel ripped off.
"This purchase unlocks the Sapphire Dragon stat block for use with D&D Beyond, including the description, lair actions and history of other gem dragons in digital format in the monster listing and access to the monster in the searchable listings, character builder, digital character sheet, and the encounter builder."
The way that reads would make quite a few think that the stats would be available for use as a character in the character builder...
All the stuff in bold either only apply to or directly state "monster." BlackedAvian is right about monsters never being viewable in character builder though, that should be removed. Playing as a dragon is a huge leap of an assumption. It would take a party of level 2 adventurers to kill a baby sapphire dragon. Maybe you thought it wasn't a true Dragon (gem dragons are fairly obscure), but that would still be playing as a non-human which should have been a red flag.

So I take it you are also in a campaign where someone is sharing purchased content (or you bought a bundle yourself and didn't realize it came with it)?
Either way, it is not like spending money on free content is a new concept (WGtE "living document"). At least 2$ isn't much and it is for charity.
I might have needed to read what I posted before I said it. I do not mind that I paid for the item. It is for a good cause! I just read things wrong and felt upset that I didn't get what I thought I was getting. Anyway Now that I know what it really was I am totally okay with it. and can't wait to use it! I had thought that maybe they were bringing back the Council of Wyrms setting. Which would be AWESOME!

Yeah, the sapphire dragon stat block doesn't require you to purchase it in order to view the stat block itself. In the monster listings it shows up and displays everything instead of sending you to the marketplace to purchase it. The four adventures in the Essentials Kit also did this when they were originally released on dndbeyond. I've since caught up with the releases and own everything again so if the adventures still allow access without purchase I'm not sure, but they originally did. It's just an oversight on the staff team upon release. I was able to read the Rrakkma adventure from MToF a few days prior to MToF release on the dndbeyond app, which I'm sure was an oversight as well, unless it was released as early content and I didn't notice.

I, for one, would have LOVED a dragon playable race, so yes, the words character creator in the item description is HIGHLY dissapointing for the fact that those words should NOT be in the description without the word OF being placed before it to indicate it's not actually a playable race. I am all for the "Council of Wyrms" setting being remade for 5th edition in which you PLAY as full dragons...including Gem Dragons such as the one this topic is about. As for the 2 bucks being for charity, I would have thought it would have been to fund D&D beyond . YOu know...they sell a product and you buy it and the money is used to pay them and they keep the site running. I would not call funding this site a charity. If it was..everything woudl be free and it'd be our choice to give em money here and there for no other reason than to help them out.
Extra Life is a charity organization D&D has been happy to be involved with since 2013, with the express purpose of driving donations to the Children's Hospitals Network.
"If you paid anything for it you were ripped off"
This one is easy, as that is a 100% false statement. The purchase price is $1.99 which goes to charity. I really don't think that can be called being ripped off - it's a decision for each person to make, whether they wish to support the Extra Life initiative and get a cool Sapphire Dragon monster as well.
If anyone is seeing that they have access to the Adult Sapphire Dragon monster without purchasing it, that's likely because they have access to it via the content sharing feature of a Master Tier subscription.
Playable Dragon Race
With regards the listing being misleading - I'll feed back your misunderstanding of the text and we'll bear that in mind for future listings.
Marketplace pages specify what is included and in this case, I personally feel the wording is pretty clear:
This purchase unlocks the Sapphire Dragon stat block for use with D&D Beyond, including the description, lair actions and history of other gem dragons in digital format in the monster listing and access to the monster in the searchable listings, character builder, digital character sheet, and the encounter builder.
The bit that seems to be causing trouble is, "and access to the monster in the searchable listings, character builder, digital character sheet, and the encounter builder."
I will note that it doesn't state that there is a playable race in that text.
If even one person makes a purchase believing they were going to receive something that they then didn't receive, then we do have a problem however, so please reach out to the support team to discuss.
One more thing to clarify: some people were confused by it saying "character builder" and thinking of the tool we use to creature playable characters. What is actually meant is the Monster homebrew tools (you can create a copy of it to edit / create your own version based off it). I do think that should have been more specific. Personally I knew it meant the homebrew tools (Monsters are characters, that's what the C stands for in NPC, which all monsters are) due to the statement of a stat block, but I can see why some people got confused on that. Perhaps change character builder to homebrew monster tools?

I just checked while logged out, couldn't view the dragon. I could only view the table of contents for the adventures, clicking a chapter took me to marketplace.

The homebrew tools have never been refered to as the character builder. The character builder is specifically the name of the tool used to make playable characters. I'm glad you were able to figure out what they meant, but this is none the less a typo. You can't view or use monster stats in the character builder.
I purchased the Sapphire Dragon, but when I click on the dragon in the compendium, it just takes me to the marketplace to purchase the content.

Hey folks,
I see a lot of misinformation in the discussion going on here, so let me try to clear some of this up!
Charity
First off, let me clear up the charity thing. On the marketplace page for the Sapphire Dragon, it states:
That means that every purchase of the Sapphire Dragon on D&D Beyond is a donation to the Extra Life charity.
Here's the page on the Dungeons & Dragons website:
https://dnd.wizards.com/extralife

Purchases on the D&D Beyond Marketplace make sure to list what you receive for a purchase and break it down. Compare to the marketplace page for Volo's Guide to Monsters.
If even one person makes a purchase believing they were going to receive something that they then didn't receive, then we do have a problem however, so please reach out to the support team to discuss.

Thank you Stormknight for clearing it up. I am sorry if I caused an issue here.
