I just purchased a subscription about 15 minutes ago and making a character and there is a large amount missing form the options that is in the 5E PHB.
I then searched forums and saw posts from months ago mentioning beta, there was no mention of this being in beta anywhere on any of the screens I went through while purchasing the subscription........is this still in beta? should it still be missing things ie: chromatic orb, hermit background, etc. ? If it is in beta shouldn't there be a warning that the advertising they do for the character builder is false?
this is pretty frustrating, the tool is amazing but.........if it's missing basic components, it's not worth the money
That's a terrible allegation to make. What text, and please be specific, misled you as to what you would be getting? I ask because if there is something that D&D Beyond actually wrote that is misleading people, I'm sure they'd like to know so they can change it (since they aren't running a scam), and because I've looked at what the marketplace and subscription pages say and was not myself able to identify what text would cause someone to believe they were getting something for whichever purchase option they are making that is not actually part of that purchase option.
I've suggested they make it neon and animated so that it flashes as well as making a really annoying sound that forces you to click on it to confirm that you've read it.
For some reason, they haven't implemented my suggestion yet, though.
Content Must be Purchased Separately in the Marketplace. Subscriptions only provide access to the below:
They could bold it as well.
In D&D Beyond, much like in D&D, things do exactly what they say. It doesn't say you get access to (PHB / Xanathar's Guide / etc.) content, so you don't.

ugh nevermind - i see another reply literally right below this
you know.................you could really make that clear when buying stuff - this is literally built like a scam, really dissappointing
Subscriptions unlock different capabilities based on the sub tier for the tools. You have to purchase content separately.
D&D Beyond can be used for free and contains information from the following "free to use" sources published by Wizards of the Coast: D&D 5th edition SRD, D&D 5th edition Basic Rules, and Elemental Evil Companion.
Content from other sources, such as the Player's Handbook, Dungeon Master's Guide, or Monster Manual, will need to be purchased from the Marketplace or accessed via another user sharing content with you via their Master Tier Subscription.

It says EXACTLY what you get on the subscriptions page. It has it in both regular text and in a table. I don't know how people miss this.
About 100% more I would say.
Right under the title they should write:
