Is it just me, or are some of the full page illustrations missing from the D&DB versions of the books? I can’t find the full-page illustrations from the PHB, for example.
Edit: and I’m hearing XGE doesn’t include any art at all. Is that true? I thought the D&DB versions were supposed to have all the art from the physical versions.
Not sure where that impression comes from. All books have all the artwork.
Some of the chapter start art is incorporated into page backgrounds that won't display on mobile web (but will on the upcoming mobile app), so we can look for ways to link to it from the mobile browser.
I assure you it's all there - one of my most frustrating tasks is to get it placed properly on our pages. =)

I just looked through XGtE on D&D Beyond and I see plenty of really nice artwork, so I can assure you that those rumours you heard are false. :)
Be wary of comparing D&D Beyond compendiums directly to the hardback books though, as they utilise the art slightly differently.
As an example, take the full-page art on page 10 of the Player's Handbook. On D&D Beyond, this art is used to enhance the page around the menu in the Step-by-Step characters chapter.
Thanks for the clarifications. The way the full-page art is used as a sidebar background does seem a bit disappointing. Is there any way to see those illustrations in full?
It turns out the person who complained about Xanathar's over here might have only been looking at a table of contents. Others have said they have all the art. *shrug*

The only art I've noticed any issue with is Tomb of Annihilation's front cover. For some reason it's split and has weird artifacts at the top.

Excellent! I’ve said it before, but I really love how responsive you all are. It’s such a treat when dealing with a digital product like this. :)
