Let's say I want monsters with a CR between CR 1/4 and 1/2, for example a Goblin. Using the filters, using either 1/4 or 0.25 will not work to search for CR's less than 1 but greater than 0.
This post turned up in my search today. I was searching for previous posts before starting one of my own. HOW are you filtering the MM? When I go there I see ZERO options for filtering or sorting, etc.
I'm playing a druid and filtering by Beast and CR would be a very welcome addition, but it's not available. Yet your post above seems to indicate that you can do this. (Or at least could do this on 3/20/2017...)
At the top you can narrow by monster type, like Beasts for the druids and polymorphers amongst you. Where it says "Challenge Range" you can specify the CR range of the monsters to view. For example, choose 0 in the left one and 1/2 in the right one to see all monsters or the ones of the type you chose that are between 0 and 1/2, Size category is obvious and Environment is for monsters that favour set environments like Forests or Underdark.
Show Advanced Filters gives you more options to play with include filtering by source book. You could select only the ones you have access to if you want.
Hope this helps.

I'm I missing something? Thanks in advance.
Go to Monsters page. You will see the following:

Holy Carp! I ‘knew’ that was there, but instead I was jumping into the Compendium: Monster Manual.
I offer you my most embarrassed thanks! 😜
