Are there plans to add less-than-official materials here? I'm sure I'm not the only person who would like to use other material such as the Tal'Dorei Campaign Guide.
The Tal'Dorei Campaign Guide is as official for a product made under WotC license, as far as I know.
The possibility of having third-party material on DDB has been asked various times, and IIRC the team said they are considering it and seeing how doable it is and if so how best to do it, but there's still no additional info.

I'd love to see some of the awesome third-party content that out there eventually available on DDB. Tal'Dorei, Kobold Press stuff, not to mention DMs Guild. I've seen reference to the complications of licensing between DDB, WotC and the various providers, and as you say, they are trying to figure out how to make it happen. Hopefully someday!
It's always so complicated. For example, why can't OrcPub just license all the rule books?
Complicated for sure. But I'm not so sure it was a matter of "can't" so much as him going about it poorly. WotC has multiple license out there for the content (DDB, Roll20, FG) and I see no reason why licensing it for a full-featured character builder wouldn't be a smart move. Orc Pub and MPMB's sheet being prime examples. Unfortunately, both of those guys worked up their products using illegal content and eventually got busted trying to monetize it. That puts you at a distinct disadvantage when you then try to approach WotC to negotiate a legal way to carry on. Plus, I'd expect a huge percentage of users of both would have disappeared if they needed to pay for that content. Or at least pay what they'd have need to charge to cover a license.
I know. And it's sad. I used both. They were good. I was willing to pay for that. Non-GM players don't need much more than that usually.
We'll, eventually, as I started GMing more seriously, I spent the almost 300 bucks for the legendary bundle. I also got some friends to share the burden. So, people are willing to pay.
It has been noted by a couple of the mods here that they are looking at ways to incorporate 3rd party material - billing and taxes being at least one of the issues with doing this. I'd love to see this too!

which i am curious to know how billing and taxes for a 3rd party is any different than what they are doing now. Sure, you would have to have a tracking system to say we sold x number of this publishers product, but amazon already kind of has that in place being a worldwide shipper.

I just want to tell everyone "happy gaming" and actually mean it. Whatever your game is, just have fun with it, it is after all, just a game.
It's likely just more of a logistical legal issue. I'm willing to bet the current licence that allows people to publish 5e 3rd party stuff doesn't cover 3rd party selling under DDB sufficiently. It'll be a bit of work for DDB & WoTC's lawyers to sit down and just make sure everything is on the up & up before they can start looking at putting together a "process" for converting 3rd party content.
Looks like it will happen but they've got other immediate focuses for the moment so it's not top priority so I totally understand.
I'd predict that we'll get DM's Guild stuff first (and I almost guarantee that'll start with Adept stuff) and then some of the closer publishers such as Kobold Press, etc.
I'm pretty sure this edition will be around for a fair while so I can see the slow build of stuff like this being worth it.
I'd like to add that there is a partnership between DnD Beyond and Critical Role in place, so I would expect the Tal Dorei book to be released here within 2018. At least I am hoping so, as it is the only non-Wizards 5E book I have messed with purchasing.

I use summon instrument to summon my kettle drum, hold it overhead like Donkey Kong, and chuck it at the nearest kobold.

There has been no confirmation of this, but on the last developer livestream Badeye mentioned that in order for Cobalt Soul to be added to the site, they would need the Tal'dorei Campaign Guide to be added as a source... reading between the lines, they're working on it.
I did a search and did not find anything definitive about this.
Would D&D Beyond be willing to look into adding the Tal'Dorei Campaign Guide by Matthew Mercer and Green Ronin Publishing? I would imagine Green Ronin being more accepting than DMs Guild who would not even let Matt include his Blood Hunter class in his own guide yet, they've let you add that here.
There's more than a few things from that guide I would love to use on here like new subclasses for bards and sorcerers (Runechild looks awesome) as well as feats and backgrounds that go beyond the normal standard and add interesting options for characters and gameplay in general.
You may already be looking into this, since you have partnership with Critical Role, but no harm in suggesting. :)
Thank you for your time.

(Stormknight):
post moved to this thread
As you surmise, for such a thing to happen, a deal needs to be agreed between all parties involved: Curse (D&D Beyond), Matt Mercer / Geek and Sundry, Green Ronin (publisher), Wizards of the Coast.
Only once all of these parties are happy with any deal can it go ahead.
The most I can say from an official standpoint, is to repeat what Badeye has said before, that Curse are working to bring content from a number of 3rd party creators to D&D Beyond.
And I didn't realise there was already a thread, sorry for making you move my post. I did search on this, I swear. I must have mistyped something. o.O My apologies!
tal'dorei would be nice to be on here especially since they sponsor CR with the new campaign. I would hope they could have the content available for critters even if we have to pay a small fee
So how do the ToS/Rules work with Homebrewing something like that in? Say I have access to a (legal) PDF edition of the book and want to use it with DnD:B.
I could theoretically take some time and homebrew things like Class/Feat/Background in. I'm assuming it would get flagged if I tried sharing it publicly though and wouldn't pass, but I would be allowed to continue using it privately and within my campaign without issue.
As a secondary question: If I owned Physical/Digital copies of what already exists on here, is it against the ToS to "Homebrew" in things I have access to if I'm willing to take the time to put it all together (again as long as it stays in my campaign).
As an example. I own a physical copy of Tome of Foes. I'm planning on porting in one of my existing characters for use in a campaign. It has the Elven Accuracy Feat & Fey Teleportation. I'm mostly broke and it doesn't feel great paying for content I already own. Would I get in trouble home-brewing these abilities in while I save up enough to buy the whole book to support the site?

As with any copyrighted content, you can't publicly share/publish homebrew versions of it, but you can use them in your campaigns (they will be shared to any campaign you're in from your collection).
