I've seen threads of this time and time again over the years and still haven't seen any type of confirmation that we will get such a thing, unless I've missed it. Does anyone know if we will at any point be getting this? And even better, when that time-frame is?
I'm at my wits-end trying to figure out how to cleanly allow everything I need in one place. I do not use DnDBeyond anymore other than just as a compendium of the base rules, because I have 4 homebrew classes in my setting that are very commonly played by my PC's (Mostly Kibbles Homebrew for those curious.)
The lack of being able to make a custom class on here has literally driven me away, but I cannot find a perfect alternative as everything else makes getting all those pieces in one place harder, so right now have to scour through DnDBeyond, and multiple pdfs full of spells and other classes, and expansions for those classes and spell lists, and more spell lists, and I still prefer this over using DnDBeyond, even though it makes character creation take up a whole day for each spellcaster. I prefer doing this complicated and time-lengthy process over using DnDBeyond, because if I was using DnDBeyond I straight up wouldn't be able to make sheets for some of my players.
I really, really need DnDBeyond back in my life. Anyone know anything?
The last I heard (which has been a while), homebrew classes moved from (I’m paraphrasing) “no, we won’t be doing them” to “we may do them sometime.” DDB never provides ETAs. Homebrew classes are not listed as current projects on the developers update. Personally, I would guess not before 2023, and possibly (probably?) much later. Please note that I am just a customer, not staff. I have no insider knowledge. My guess is based only on my observation of how long other requests have taken and how many things have been named as higher priority than homebrew classes.
Considering there have been a couple of classes that came out after the PHB i personally just don't think they are interested or able to provide classes for whatever reason. A bit sad really. But it might simply be a contract issue. IF lucky, there might be a time we get optional class features (not subclass) and at that point you basically can do whatever you want finally.
