Just noticed that equipment meant for a mount add to the character's carrying capacity.
Would be cool if there was a way to tag items as "on the horse".

D&D Beyond FoundersThere is a major overhaul of the character sheet underway currently.
The ability to deal with multiple "inventories" is something that's been asked for quite a lot and I am hopeful will be in there.
