First of all, I love the DnD Beyond tools. I think they're wonderful.
However, there's one feature that I feel is definitely missing and one "would be nice" feature: the ability to crew Homebrew races and class specialties.
The DM Guide gives some tips for creating new races but there's currently no tool on DnD Beyond which allows for custom races. For example, I have a player who likes the Arrakocra race as a concept but wanted something based on waterfowl rather than birds of prey. It would be really handy to be able to build that custom race and have it available in the tool to share with my players if they wanted to use it as well.
As I mentioned before, the second feature is more of a "would be nice" but not necessary: the ability to create custom class specialties. Unearthed Arcana has some really cool ideas for modern magic, but there's no way to use the tool to access that wealth of knowledge or even add it in.
If that is anywhere on someone's list, I would bet it's a year+ out. Some have talked about the task of facilitating homebrew classes requiring a great deal of re-building/revising, and I believe I remember someone reinforcing that the sub-class homebrew capability will be able to accomplish just about any desired result.
But I remember hearing the idea that certain popular DM's Guild offerings might be given special treatment sooner than the ability to homebrew classes. (Blood Hunteeeer! crosses fingers)
I'm pretty sure in the live stream badeye basically said there are no plans to homebrew full classes. He did also say though, that if there is enough interest they could perhaps "homebrew" select classes to be made available, but likely wouldn't give us the ability to create our own homebrew classes.
This was fantastic to log into and read - thanks for this information, it's what I've been waiting for the most. You mentioned Unearthed Arcana being included, and other base classes might be added in the future - so I will second the crossed fingers of Blood Hunter being included.
Is there an update on the addition of homebrew race & class?
Homebrew races, subraces, and subclasses are all going to be released soon - when there is a release date staff will announce. We have a developer stream tomorrow where hopefully more information shall be provided.
Side note - this thread has been necro'd, so I'm locking it.

I have good news for you then!
Staff have confirmed that future development includes the ability to homebrew races/subraces and subclasses!
They have also confirmed that Unearthed Arcana will be available on D&D Beyond.
I don't have a timescale for you unfortunately - personally I want these now, but we'll just have to wait for the moment!

Oh, that makes me so happy! No problem on there currently being no definite timescale, but knowing it's already in the works gives me great glee!
Thank you so much!
Just wondering if you have any citation for this because it makes me very happy.
