This is actually a paid subscription feature on other platforms. Customers want this enough to pay for it.
*Raises hand*
I tried building a live DM Screen display similar to the app's campaign view, for my DMing laptop. Stopped after the requests got flagged as bot-like activity.
This should be a feature we can pay for, and obtain a permanent API key.
another +1... This would be huge and could be done in a way that is both secure and allows D&D Beyond to retain full ownership of / restricted access to their content.
It's 2026. How does this platform not have an API? I understand the MOAT that DnD Beyond has and wants to maintain, and that it's expensive to hire and maintain a dev team, but honestly just simple endpoints like /player/info, /rolls, /campaign/info are what we're all really asking for.
If DDB does not build an API for access to these primitives, other, more future-facing companies will come in and supplant their position as the ultimate online DnD tool. Isn't the whole point of DnD to learn, grow, and evolve?

+6 for API access (myself, my party, and my axe).
It's less about "needing to build one". Some already exist. However, using them without going through the normal character builder page results in temporary then permanent blocks.
That said, the format for those player JSON files is atrocious, so I'm hoping they factor this into their new rebuild of the site and systems so that they can include everything in a consumable way.

Just keeping this alive because your customers want this. +1 for API access
Can confirm Mr. Ageless's response. Your customers do want this. +1 for API access.

No-brainer really... I mean, I'm not surprised from WotC, but honestly. a read-only API would be amazing!

+1 a read only api for paid subs that bought the content would be amazing to have
+1 to an api for this. Read only would be enough to make some real magic.
+1 for an api.
I doubt anyone will hear us, but +1
How is this still not a thing +1 for API support.
Or at least give us a random treasure generator based on items in books owned.
