With all the damage control and trust re-establishment going on at WoTC, now might be the time to remove another let walled garden - the exclusive content on DDB.
There would be huge upside to DDB as a platform if they offered content from 5e publishers other than WoTC? It would reengender trust as those walls came down. It would make the platform even more attractive to DMs and players as they could incorporate the expanded sources. It would create more revenue streams from source sales. And a lot more.
It would not detract from the WoTC sales.
All up side and another boost to OGL damage control and trust restoration.
What do you say, DDB, ready to open up the platform?
I doubt most creators would sell on DDB since it would, you know, lead to WotC getting a cut of their pie, which was the whole point of the argument against the license change.
I'd say anything on DMSguild could be added to dndbeyond if the system had a more robust toolset. They'd probably have to amend the DMSGuild license to allow for it though.
That's a nice idea, but the problem is this website can hardly even manage its -own- (official) content. How are they going to find the time to input a bunch of other people's stuff?
