I promise I'm not trying to be sarcastic. I'm legitimately trying to understand and make sure I'm not missing something.
I get why they are in the compendiums. But currently there is no way to easily add monsters for reference to use in a game in your campaign. I can set bookmarks in the compendiums that is the closest I've found.
Am I missing some functionality? Are they here just here for future campaign organizer add-ons?
How do other users use monsters and the monster creator? Is it all about sharing your homebrew with the community?
Having monsters as a separate category makes searching for them easier. Also, they have encounter building planned so probably for future functionality.
Do you know about the tooltip syntax? I use that extensively in my campaign notes.
I find the listings very helpful. Some examples:
i needed supplemental monsters for a published mini dungeon filled with firenewts. I was able to filter to only show elementals. (would have been even better if I could have specified elementals who do fire damage)
I use the filters to generate a list of possibilities for my moon druids wild shape ability (just wish I could do “no flying speed” type filters)
i can see all the orcs (or gith, or kobolds) together, regardless of source.
