This seems remarkably shortsighted. I can think of several monetization paths for Sigil, so it's a startling lack of vision from Hasbro leadership. I shouldn't be surprised that Hasbro manages to fumble the vision for a digital product, and it probably didn't help that it seems to be the victim of politics and a company turf war. Still, really disappointing given the potential Sigil had.
The few times I tried working with sigil it was more than adequate. I mean it was functional but I kept having login issues, and the UI was not very good. It seemed odd that they declared the highend got extra "unpainted" miniatures but really those were ones they had not gotten the labor to add textures/paint/whatever they used to color them. I could not see ever paying for it when there are much better alternatives.
The tight integration with Beyond was far from at hand. As bad as the rest of beyond is with the 2024 rule bugs I doubt they would get it done in 2 years.

Here’s another article with a lot more information. You can thank Hasbro after reading it. https://www.pcgamer.com/games/hasbro-pushed-sigil-out-of-the-nest-d-and-ds-latest-layoffs-happened-because-the-distinct-monetization-path-for-its-virtual-tabletop-sigil-never-materialized/

I just tried to open Sigil and it said servers are down do to maintenance? Can't find any mention of maintenance anywhere else.
