So, I've been using Roll 20 for years but I find I'm constantly fighting the system so my new game I'm trying out Maps VTT. I know that it is still in in its infancy, but hey, you've also got all kinds of resources almost no one else has. I'd love to use an integrated system and dump the extra monthly subscription. Here are some things I'd like to see.
Ability to put text on maps (and hide it).
Ability for GMs and Players to be able to look at the images assigned to characters/monsters.
Ability for GMs to push document/images to players.
Integrate Encounters with Maps
When using token browser have a filter for "Only Legacy". I know you want people to rewrite everything and drop a few hundred dollars on new books... but it ain't gonna happen, I'll go to Pathfinder first. Also in token browser, under source allow a filter that only shows sources that I already own.
Stickers, lots and lots of "Stickers" and/or allow for players to upload their own Stickers, ideally there could be an interface with Hombrew stickers (though that may be more long term)
For long term:
Either create an authorized comprehensive product integrating Maps with Discord or integrate voice into Maps.
I would like it if I was running an encounter that when I'm in combat mode, I click on a monster stat block and can use my mouse wheel left click to go backwards to the combat initiative.
I'd love to see a dynamic version of fog of war. If it would disappear as my players moved their tokens, that would be AMAZING. I spend so much time erasing so they can see around the corner and it drags the game down. Maps have come such a long way since the beginning. Thanks for providing this tool.
One other tool that would be great is to add sound effects to maps or maybe incorporate another app like syrinscape or something like this into maps.
One last suggestion. The ability to make custom tokens for monsters so all the NPCs don't look like the armies of other monsters you create. I'd love more NPC tokens.
The Obvious thing you need for maps is a Chat Window And/Or Speech Bubbles Awful JRPG Typewriter Text MMO Graphic Novel style Left/Right character portrait subtitle quips
Too bad they swore off using technology that could do that all faster, because of the haters.
For me, I'd like to be able to clear the game log or 'copy' a campaign.
My scenario is I'm running one-shots multiple times with different players and I'd like to be able to either have a base campaign which I copy for a run, or at least be able to 'reset' a campaign to clear out the rolls from the previous run so new players don't see info from the last group.
Also, being able to modify initiative order after a combat has started doesn't seem to exist, and I feel it really should.

WOTC_Zac: As I’ve said elsewhere in this AMA, our product philosophy is “Honda Accord, not F-16.” We want anyone to be able to sit down and immediately understand how to play, instead of being overwhelmed by a dashboard of a thousand knobs and switches.
Dynamic lighting is tricky. The effect can be very cool and save a lot of time, but in my research people also say its time consuming to set up and it’s very fragile. That’s not really in line with our philosophy, so we haven’t done it yet.
We have prototyped a few versions of what the Maps version of this could look like, but we haven’t quite gotten to what feels like the right answer for us yet. If and when we do, we’ll happily release it!
WOTC_Zac: I love this! I've definitely been poking my nose around looking at sound effects and music and thinking about how they could be integrated. No locked in plans yet, but I've got a dedicated notes doc to thoughts about how, where, and when we could do it...
WOTC_Zac: Absolutely! In our Roadmap we call out custom uploads of Stickers and Reveals. Monster token art will possibly get rolled up into that project too. I also have plans for what we're calling "simplified homebrew." Those plans are still a little fuzzy, but as we get closer I'll be doing lots of very public research about how we can best do that.

This one is covered by Reveals for images (though it needs a bit more work)

I would like the same thing, it would be more practical.
Tutuapp
Yeah, my eventual solution is to create a monster, change it's image put it on the map and hide it.
Stupid, stupid, stupid.... did you find a better workaround?
