I find it baffling how the 5.5e rules have been out for over a year and a half, and there are still many core rule features that D&D Beyond is coded to work differently than what the books say:
Warlock invocations not letting you choose cantrips other than Eldritch Blast, Wizard's Abjuration Savant adding spells as always prepared instead of to the spellbook (probably the same with the other subclasses too, but I haven't tested them myself), Spells that deal different damage amounts (like Toll the Dead and Ice Knife) only giving one roll option while versitle weapons give you both rolling options, magic item charges not refreshing on long rests, some bonus/actions not listed in the right spots on the Actions tab, always prepared spells still being able to be chosen when preparing spells (leading to picking the same spell twice if you're not paying attention), not being able to expend Hit Dice when not taking a short rest (even though the Healer feat and Arcane Vigor let you do that), and many, many more.
At this point, rather than fixing issues as people find and complain about them, it would probably be better for them to manually go through every rule to make sure it's working as intended.
All these things are a result of the current character builder having hard system limitations and is the reason why they're working on a rebuild of the builder. They've said once the rebuild is complete, they'll not only be able to better support existing features, but will be future proofed in a more robust way
That actually makes a lot of sense. I'm not sure how I didn't realise that rebuilding the character builder included rebuilding the backend codes and not just the visuals.
