Just curious... has there been any new under the hood development in DDB in the last 2 years? Feels all all they do is put new sellable content into the existing infrastructure. Nothing has been improved upon or innovated upon in the last few years (or at least that's how it feels).

I think they are probably struggling to enable both the 2014 ruleset and the 2024 ruleset, in order for us to play with the new books as soon as they are available.

I think they are figuring out how to get rid of the 2014 rules so everyone will have to pay them more money to buy the new stuff.

Schoobs,
that is downright thievery as well as highly unethical and they know it; that being said, I would be lying if I said that that scenario never crossed my mind. They call the 2024 rules a revision to the 2014 rules to facilitate backward compatibility, yet they create a new set of core books. If these new core books retain the wording from the play tests then they would be better off calling the new books 6e as they will have made so many drastic changes to support backward compatibility that it eclipses the very definition of what a revision really is.
in short, I for one really hope the 2014 core rule books remain accessable to those who have purchased them indefinately.
I think they are figuring out how to get rid of the 2014 rules so everyone will have to pay them more money to buy the new stuff.
That would not be technically challenging, so even if they want to do it, they wouldn't be spending a lot of effort on it. Pretty sure most of the lack of development is just that they've reduced development staff to a skeleton.

IF that were true, they would have done it with V:GtM and M:ToF, except anyone who had already purchased those still has access to them (they're just marked as Legacy and removed from the Marketplace).
It's far more likely that this will follow suit. Revised Core Rules will be the main stuff, everyone who has the 2014 Core Rules will keep those, but they'll be marked as Legacy, and eventually those books will be removed from the Marketplace.

So you think there will be (for example) "fighter 2014" and "fighter 2024", where the first will be marked 'legacy' and will follow today's rules and the latter will have all the revised rules when you manage the sheet. If this will be the case we will have everithing duplicated.. spells, races, classes... I hope there will be a more elegant solution for us. Let's see (september is near! :D )

In the character builder, they've already got species (races) marked as legacy alongside their newer counterparts, and a toggle to hide legacy content altogether. They could do the same for classes, subclasses, spells, etc.
The alternative to this would be to move older features to the "optional features" portion of the character builder, which is where they have the Tasha's features already. But, the issue with this would be that anyone who doesn't own the new core books would have all their features under "optional", which doesn't make sense.
So the first paragraph makes more sense, and has already been tried and tested with player species marked as legacy and a toggle to hide them.
Of course, they might be drastically overhauling the entire system from the ground up, but, as you said, let's see in September 😉
Not sure if this has been asked, or if this forum is even still being monitored...... Is there a way to add custom abilities to the character sheet? (Honor and Sanity, in the DM's Guide)

"Exciting news, everyone! We are going live with our D&D 2024 ruleset in DNDBeyond! And if you want to retain the old 2014 rules, you can still have them, for a fee of $6.99 / month!"
Something I have wanted and needed so badly was for the homebrew system to be overhauled so that one thing could act as another or for instance, you can make spells or abilities grow with player level so that your items can be more dynamic and part of a tool kit that you grow, rather than things you discard, or for instance having to make the same item over and over again for each level or range of levels of your character
It might be nice to get an upgrade to the Subscriber "Perks". The frames and backgrounds are all but fairly ineffectual items. Could the monthly perks be more of a a monthly credit to the marketplace? (a couple/few bucks added to our marketplace balance to be compiled and used as discounts within the marketplace? Or if not that, maybe just a small marketplace discount in general for subscribers.
This is something that is really screwing with me, and I'm entirely unsure why it isn't a feature.
Homebrew items should be more customizable. We should be able and allowed to edit damage, range, and properties of these weapons. We can edit the damage of homebrew monsters, so why not items? It makes no sense.

Totally agreed - it's weird that we are getting map updates but basic features of the other things that have already existed are unfinished.

I suspect the calculation is that more people will pay $$$ specifically for map access, than for "unnecessary additions" to minor features, such as customizability of homebrew items beyond what's already there. (There could be a lot to comment on if that's the truth of it, but I'll refrain.)
In the market place being able to sort by what I do not own.

I don't think anyone from WotC even reads these anymore.

To be fair, I think in the first post they said you have to use some other website if you truly care about a feature and want to vote for it.

Awsome idea! It would also be great if we could change the CR, and an algorithm "automagicially" updates the entire statblock
Map features:
Basic Maps, let us dictate tile size! (Maybe because I have a large physical battlemap) I want 36inch x 48inch
For all, maps, give us the option of grid/hex/ or isometric! Let's get fun with it!
