I actually want the D&D Beyond app character sheets to show the customized touches like i have on the site. When I play on my ipad i don't use the app, I use the site because the screen fits the whole sheet perfectly and I have the backdrop, frame, and customized coloring I like. DDB app is bland in that aspect.
Also: on tablets I want landscape to be the same layout as the web page. I've got a big ol' ipad screen that can hold a lot, needing to swipe through sections that take up only a fraction of the screen is a lot of dead space.
Bring back a la carte, or give redemption codes on physical book purchases OUTSIDE of DDB to get the digital content for $10. I want to support my FLGS, and alt covers only sell in brick and mortar stores.
For real. Let me keep supporting this site and company. I was gonna buy ALL the new digital books but not anymore. Not unless they let all physical purchases come with a single use code to get the digital/physical bundle for $10 extra. Cause alt cover only sells at your FLGS and we don't get the bundle option, which is unfair.
> And it is a tool that will probably not be used anywhere near as much as you might think.
Currently, amongst just 10-11 classes, homebrew library has 2257 pages, at 20 subclasses a page, 45k subclasses. On this site alone, not to mention subclasses listed elsewhere, in areas that focus on optional rulings.
> Creating an entire class from scratch is not something that many people do.
As related to previously listed, lots of classes have been crafted in the games history, DM's can be trusted to know what's balanced and what not in their games. If I want to use (some kind of class for ghostbusters) in my private game, I should be able to have function to do that, with parameters that the game log can recognize, and general class table functions.
Even if it's a broken function that we have to learn from scratch how to work, (like what we have in our current rendition of homebrew capability, so be it.)
In the spell description we have "source" that points to the book containing that particular spell.
But if the spell is described in more than one book, the "source" points to only one book.
For example, the spell "ice knife" points to "Elemental Evil Player's Companion" while it is described also in "Xanathar Guide's to Everything". Since EE is discontinued and labeled "Legacy content" players may have hard times to find out easily where the spell comes from and if they can use it or not. (Same goes with "frostbite" spell as another example)
Is it possible to expand the "source" property so that it may include all the books describing the spell?
FILTER REQUEST: "AVAILABLE TO ME" or "Purchased" or "Accessible"
You guys have so many handy search functions but with SO much content (much of which I own) it can be really a pain in the butt to be constantly scrolling through stuff I don't have access to. Even though I have the majority of the sources it is still quite bad. And it's going to get worse with all the third party content. You need to make being to able to search only content that we have access to (purchased or shared with us) an option ASAP. This needs to be available on the monster searcher, the main search bar, magic items, etc etc. This is a great tool but it is severely hampered by this limitation.
Please! Please!! Please!!! Add a way to make folders to organize created characters under the "My Characters" tab! This has been a request for YEARS and it should be a fairly simple task to accomplish.
It could be done in a similar way to how races are displayed in the character creator with dropdown menus, where the subraces are just a smaller version of the character boxes we see currently under "My Characters." Ideally, these folders wouldn't be lined up 1 by 1 in a single file vertical line like the races are but instead have maybe 2 or 3 per line horizontally.
when exporting character sheet to pdf, please try to simplify the exported text or at the very least have it appear in the right section (like for sorcerers the sorcery points in action section doesn't need the full feature description, it belongs in the sorcerer features), and for the spells the note column doesn't need to show again the duration and VSM requirements (there is already a column for those) and could actually show effects and/or damage?
While we all know this thread has been ignored by the devs basically since the original GOAT crew left, perhaps at some point new devs will come in and make use of it, so here are two separate (but sometimes connected) ideas for posterity:
Better item creation that allows us to make linked items.
For example, a set of items. Each item gives bonuses all by themselves, but enable us to add conditions that can tell if multiple pieces of the set are worn, as more pieces then give bonuses that they don't give alone.
For example, a ring and an amulet. Both give resistance alone... but if both are worn, they give immunity instead.
The second idea is similar, building upon the first, just without needing linked items for it, but building on the idea of progressing abilities. We just need the ability to add other, similar conditionals.
"You gain resistance to cold. If you already have resistance from another source, this becomes immunity. If you already have immunity from another source, you now absorb cold damage as health." In basic coding terms: Verify if user has X or Y. If user has neither, grant X. If user has X, grant Y. If user has Y, grant Z. (Or you could just change the way resistances work to where they are "ranks" and so items just give you a "rank" of resistance and so start stacking... but that would require changing a LOT more code, and frankly, some items probably shouldn't work that way, so it is both easier and more flexible to make it the other way instead.)
Simple, easy example. Works just like exhaustion points, except as a benefit instead of a negative.
A way to progress bonuses instead of merely stacking one useless bonus on top of another to have the same effect. Because right now we have items that do this... but they don't actually do it. They just SAY they do, but they have no way to tell if you already have a thing and so advance it, leaving it on the player to remember at all times, and we have enough shit to remember already.
Can we please stop replying to this thread? It is dead. No one from the dev team is looking at it, they (WoTC) do not care about our input and are going to do whatever they have planned to make money on their products.

There's a higher (but still very low) chance of WotC caring about this thread than there is of investors caring.

There are a lot more investors than there are decision makers at wotc, and while all of them do not do the kind of research looking for post like these entails, some will then others will follow their lead by simply selling or buying when and what they do. It is also easy to use stuff like "ai" to look for trends like this.

Looking for a good 3d table top interface. Looks like one was dropped from the plans here about a year ago. Did anyone pick that up? if so, can you tell us what company is working on it? if not, can anyone suggest a really good 3d virtual table top for remote players?

FEATURE REQUEST: Can a CURSED Condition, Debuff, or Effect be added to the D&D Beyond Player Character Sheets?
Monsters such as Rakshasa, Vargouille, and Mummy or 5th, 7th, or 9th level Bestow Curse spells have a Curse condition associated with their attacks, and it would be nice to be able to track that on the Character Sheet until a Remove Curse or Greater Restoration spell can be cast on the character.
Case in point: Four of the Characters in our party were slashed by a Rakshasa and were cursed. Our Cleric was only able to cast Remove Curse twice, so it would be nice to keep track of which characters still have the Curse condition on them.
For any EFFECT that lasts on the character for any length of time there should be a way to track it on the Player Character sheet in D&D Beyond. And as CURSED is an effect of the attacks of the Monsters above, or of a Bestow Curse Spell cast at 9th level, that lasts until it is dispelled, players should be given a way to track it.
