I think we need a library filter in the search so that we only get things we own in our library. I also wish they would bring back the ability to only buy subclasses, items, and monsters instead of trying to find which book has the things we want. Also we need the ability to hide curses on items and people.
Please add a clear indicator to the character sheet to differentiate expertise and proficiency in thieves' tools. Currently thieves' tools proficiency and expertise are displayed identicallly in the proficiencies & training box, with the only difference being in the tooltip that shows when you mouse over it/that appears next to it in the mobile app, which reads "Rogue, Rogue" for expertise and just "Rogue" for proficiency. This is the most ludicrous and opaque way possible to show expertise, and it's a problem that is already elegantly solved byt the dot/circled dot graphic in the skills box.
Also, only the expertises from Rogues' 6th level feature appear under the class features tab. The 1st level expertise selections are straight up missing from the features and traits section.
It's just not good enough that a core element of a core class isn't competently displayed on the character sheet.
I’ve been using D&D Beyond’s VTT for a bit now and I absolutely love how much it’s improved just in the time I've been using it. My group uses it for every session, and it’s been awesome having everything — characters, encounters, maps — all in one place.
That said… I would really love to see a Line of Sight feature added! Other VTTs like Encounter+ have it, and it makes exploring maps so much more immersive. It’d be great if I didn’t have to pause mid-session to erase fog or manually reveal areas while my players are exploring.
I wouldn’t even mind if we had to set up walls or floors ourselves (like we already do with token sizing). Having true LoS would make a huge difference for DMs who run everything through the Beyond VTT.
Honestly, this is one of the only features keeping me from calling D&D Beyond my perfect all-in-one setup. You’ve been making some amazing updates lately, and I’d love to see this added to the roadmap!
Thanks for all the work you’re putting into the VTT. It’s been such a game-changer already.
Can the custom background on character sheets be updated to work for 2024. It was in the Dungeon masters guide but the ddb character builder still uses the old 2014 system.
Can we have dice be assignable to character sheets? My gnomish artificer, who makes candy bombs and fires Ray of Frost as mint bonbons from a slingshot, makes sense to use the bubblegum dice.
My hardened dwarvish private detective, less so. And switching back and forth is annoying.
It's a small thing. Definitely shouldn't be a priority. But would be nice.
ok, technically a bug, but the request is to make whatever this is visible so we can use it properly...
you can make a copy of bag of holding (or some other container) and it is still a container, then when you modify the homebrew magic item it loses whatever hidden property that makes it a container (after being modified it is no longer a container). (similar bug to copy ammo, which then looses the ammo type after being modified)
Also! why the hell isn't there the "action" property for magic items? they're magic items, of course they should have actions that can be performed with them that are not otherwise available...
As of this writing, you cannot choose Resilient more than once from the Feat list. RAW, there is nothing that says that it can't be taken more than once. Please fix!

In fact, there is. The general rules for feats tell us "Repeatable. A feat can be taken only once unless its description states otherwise in a “Repeatable” subsection." and resilient lacks such a statement.

By whatever means you acquire a feat, you can take it only once unless its description says otherwise.
Resilient does not say you can take it more than once
Resilient
General Feat (Prerequisite: Level 4+)
You gain the following benefits.
Ability Score Increase. Choose one ability in which you lack saving throw proficiency. Increase the chosen ability score by 1, to a maximum of 20.
Saving Throw Proficiency. You gain saving throw proficiency with the chosen ability
Also this is a feature request thread, not a bug thread.
I'd like to have the ability to rename Feats, Backgrounds, Subclasses, Spells, etc. on the character builder. In my campaign, hying get reflavored a lot--for example we are about to start an Eberron game, and a few FR feats and backgrouds may be repurposed, so being able to rename them would be helpful.
Yes, technically homebrew version could be made, but (a) that's a lot of extra work and (b) let's not kid ourselves, cutom backgrounds are broken and clearly never going to be fixed to allow you to include ability bonuses.
I do wish they would do this again I understand why they stopped before the purchase by WoTC but now that they are on the inside of the development couldn't it make the feedback system more effective when we could build some of these UA classes and try them out. They could even use the data from the number persons experimenting as whether a UA is worthing publishing.
Would absolutely love to be able to create and store maps with tokens and copy or link them to multiple campaigns. I find myself running the same campaign with three different groups and in order to do this right, I have to upload my custom map and populate all of the environmental and creature tokens plus all drawings/overlays. This is time consuming and being able to store populated maps with tokens that can be duplicated or moved between campaigns would make this so much easier.
Not that I expect this will ever get read by the development team but why not just in case.
There are many things that would be nice to have but the core items I view as a must: (ordered highest to lowest priority):
1. On all searches a toggle for "show owned content only"
2. Long standing requested Bug fixes, particularly to the 2014 content! (such as superior technique from Tasha's Cauldron. Still doesn't let you select the battle master technique you are after). The existing content that I have purchased should at a bare minimum, function on the character sheet.
3. Ability to HB optional class features, as there are admittedly a few balances from 2024 or own HB balances that would be nice to give players the option of using, without adopting a whole new version or straight up not using dnd beyond; as you can only Hb subclasses and not classes.
4. Bring back a le carte purchases; purchasing certain assets of each book instead of just the whole book, was really useful to be able to just buy the one thing you wanted instead of the whole thing (one of the main benefits of getting something digital instead of physical). More than anything I miss the fact that it let you see what you were actually buying so you knew if it was worth buying the whole book or not. I have zero interest buying most books at all now because I don't know if I'd be getting stuff of use to me.
5. Dm layer of maps: let the dm to view other maps without switching player view; let us overlay a dm map layer that's only visible to the DM. What's the point of having a DM and a player version of the map if its a pain for me to try and flip between both.
6. on the encounter tracker, when running it, each encounter has a separate roster of prepped inactive creatures that can be dragged into the active menu as needed, and likewise no longer needed creatures (dead/gone) could be dragged out of initiative into the inactive list. This would make the encounter feature so much more intuitive flexible, and allows the main purpose of getting all the prep work done rather then having to leave encounter mid-run to edit it. as this is completed further improvements such as a separate PC summons column for would be nice.
7. In encounters if Monster Stat Blocks could get togglable checkbox for tracking limited use abilities (such as spells and concentration).
8. A concentration toggle on pc sheets and also be able to adjust hit dice used outside of short resting would also be nice. Also inventory sorting via type.
9. Maps line of sight reveal like roll20's dynamic lighting
10. To be able to pin notes to sections of source books and adventures I own, like how can add post its to a physical book
There's a lot more features I could mention but wanted to keep it from getting to long or arbitrary so stuck to just the top 10 things I want.
Id love to be able to add extra tabs/sections in the notes section other than the 5 premade sections. I'm usually the note taker for my groups cause no one else remembers to and I tend to separate the campaign into "chapters"/milestones so the entire campaign isn't all crammed into 1 note.

Been too long since I last suggested it, & I've seen others suggest it & still it's an issue so here I go again:
Add an NPC filter to the Monster listings - searching for "humanoid" lands you with 60-70% adventure/campaign specific NPCs.
PLEASE!!
:)
Advanced Filters->Source Categories->Core Rules. Adventure NPCs are not core rules.
