Before everyone gets super excited, a lot was also not said in that official post. There was no statement that the current pricing will remain as is. Hopefully it ends up being like what is implied in Sarah's note, but there are no guarantees. No 'current' plans. Is this an old plan? Is there something very similar coming but not exactly this? Ideally tomorrow we will get some positive news on the roadmap for dndbeyond. A lack of information does not necessarily mean positive information. <fingers crossed>
True - I'd be fine with the subscription model remaining the same format and a small $1-$2 per month increase though, but ONLY if that also came with assurances that certain official features would be developed as priorities, and the promise of an official VTT to come by the end of next year...
I'm sure everyone thinks I'm a troll, but I sincerely hope this is a full hoax or even a discarded consideration (as someone else suggested). I'm glad for the official response, and glad for the community agreement.
I don't want to see this platform ruined, I've only been using it for a relatively short time, but it's been great the entire time I've been here.
The original "leaker" has confirmed this is a full hoax.
I am also voting for a more comprehensive set of tools for implementing the sidekicks from Tasha's. I'm running my son through a solo adventure and it would be very useful if I could use dndbeyond to manage his sidekick NPC along with everything else. Currently half my stuff is on physical character sheets and half is on this site, which gets a little annoying to have to jump back and forth. It's a minor inconvenience, but an inconvenience nonetheless.
I’d really like a monster builder similar to The character creator, where you can Frankenstein together monster abilities and add spells. The current homebrew tools are just painful to use. I love building characters it fun I wish I could have the same fun experience when making monsters.
It would be great to see a return to the developer updates, even if it's less frequent. Waiting for changelog updates and trying to decipher the implementation is nowhere as satisfying and engaging as the updates that were running on Twitch. There's a huge opportunity for engaging committed users on here.
There are a couple of things that I'd like to see in the future. One is a way to add skills acquired during play - if a character ends up living in an area mostly populated with elves, they are likely to pick up the Elvish language.
I'd also like to be able to add or remove templates to a character - lycanthropy, half-dragon, etc.
As a DM, it would be great to have a way to keep significant NPCs (those that have class levels, and a character entry) in a campaign separate from the PCs.

Already possible - you can add skills and proficiencies on character sheets. Click "Proficiencies and Languages" on the character sheet, then "Add New Proficiencies" dropdown, and select the appropriate one.

You can do this too. Take the "campaign invite link" and paste it into your own browser address bar, then it'll ask you to add a character. You can add a premade NPC as an unassigned character, and keep them active so that you can add them to the Encounter Builder and Combat Tracker.

Didn't think of this. Absolutely brilliant idea! Like the idea of key NPCs being attached as part of the campaign.
As a DM, I would really love the ability to easily limit my results to the books I own when looking at monsters, feats, etc. Selecting each individual source is cumbersome. I believe adding a new option to the source filter like "Owned on DDB" would be fantastic. Sure I'd need to be logged in to use it, but I'm practically logged in 100% of the time anyway.
Master Subscriptions should be able to pay for "Add-Ons" that allow more than 5 campaigns to share content! For example I am running something like 10 campaigns right now and have had to combine a few of them into one on Beyond to share the content to all of my players. I would pay double the 6month cost to have double the number of campaigns with shared content.
I'd like to see a stat sheet for your drake companion or animal compaion or battlesmith companion that adjusts with the pc
Same! I just recently created a set of 5 homebrew monsters that will have to be leveled as the PC levels... It's pretty annoying but saves alot of headache midgame. The player then adds the monster block as a "Misc" Extra.
It would be helpful if there was a form for making mounts and/or sidekicks. I'm trying to make a Mastiff sidekick for my kobald cavalier to ride. All I cn do is add all of it to the "notes" which is a bit of a pain in the butt. To make a separate character for him is quite wonky. Race? It would be easier to have a tab on the character sheet for a mount. Is that in the works?
What I have done thus far seems to work pretty well.
Create a Homebrew Monster using the Mastiff as the copy. Then, using Tasha's rules you can edit the monster to reflect the leveling. For example in one campaign they have a goblin lvl 4 Cleric Sidekick. His name is "Droop Sidekick Lv 4" and I edit him/create new versions as the party levels up. Having a form that is plug and chug would be much easier, but for now it works great.
The party (or the player specifically controlling the Sidekick) then adds that monster stat block as an Extra and has access to the sheet.
It would be nice if in the combat tracker under encounters I could edit the names of players and monsters. Some of my players don't use dndbeyond for their character sheets, and sometimes the monsters have names but use a regular stat block. It's hard to keep track of which player goes when in the initiative order when they're labeled "character B"

This is a great idea! Combat Tracker is still in Beta so you can submit feedback (blue bar at top). I think you would get more traction there.

I still won't pay a subscription for a VTT.
I can pay other platforms once and not have to worry about it again.

Oh thanks goodness

A campaign wide white board would be really nice

I would like a way to search magic items by Rarity. It sucks to have to scroll all the way down to very rare to find one item to bestow.
It's an option in the filters for magic item search. The field to the right of Name on the search page: https://www.dndbeyond.com/magic-items
I was referring to the Manage Inventory on the character sheets.
