(I tried sending this as a personal message rather than on the board, as I feel my part in this has gone from a request to complaining territory, but errors occurred.)
So in two years, nobody in the company making money off of subscription services could send a tweet towards WotC for clarification? Seems a bit lazy to just blame the company all the material is coming from without actually trying to get clarification. Is this a work ethic worthy of emulating?
It's not within D&D Beyonds purview to evaluate every rule in D&D for consistency, logic, or if it meets expectations. We focus on delivering the rules as WotC designs them, and if WotC updates those rules, we reflect those updates.
then again, DDB hasn't even completed the player handbook and the DMs guide book. many a thing are still missing from those books and yet in 4 years, none of it is in sight of being completed.
Rage, spell effects should have been added long ago into the player sheet. yet there is literally no sign from it. the only thing we have had in 4 years is the life cleric ability. If i were to be DDB, the basics should of been the first thing to be completed.
It's actually been stated in the dev update several times that temporary effects require the concept of duration to be present mechanically within the sheet in order to be correctly implemented. This is something the combat tracker delivers, the ability to track duration. As it's also been stated previously, a data rework of the character sheet services to better silo character data and make it more efficiently accessible is required so that data can be pulled into the combat tracker. This will enable not just stuff like temporary effects, but also bringing in game statistics like Hp and passive scores.
As for the life domain disciple of life ability, that's a different scenario. That's a 'snowflake rule' (a rule unique to a single subclass or other game mechanic) and those require a different approach, one that will be made a lot easier once the general features system is complete.
Ultimately while this all may be simple on a "playing D&D" level, none of it is simple at an "automating digital character sheets as a robust, scalable web service level". The two are very much not the same.
heres the thing... most of the people who uses beyond, aren't even asking for you to calculate everything...
as an exemple... back then we had only regular textbox for campaign management. we asked for simple rich text box, thats literally just a switch of a button. we got that and honestly, while i'm not entirely happy with it all... its that much better still and it didn't requires all the big coding you are talking about. the same is true for those effects we are asking about. we're not asking for them to be up and down on their own... we are asking for a simple addition to conditions. we will be the timer, after all we are the ones playing, so we have just that to check. we'rte not asking you guys to work on something that will take a long time to do, we're asking for a simple, add conditions to the list of already made conditions.
i know how hard it is to make something like this and even more when you have to take the esthetics of it all... but again... that's not what we are asking for ! we simply want an effect that adds the benefits to the sheet. this is something you already do with the sheet. there is literally not much else to program. just adding some effects as conditions. its as simple as that. unless you are telling me the condition system do not do what i think it does. i don'T know how you guys programmed it, but i doubt the condition system to be lacking.
Conditions we want added. no need to remove them on their own, like in the exhaustion system for exemple, its not removed on its own. Bless : adds +1d4 to saving throws and attack rolls Rage : adds barbarian rage damage if class is barbarian. as well as advantage on strength checks and resistances as a barbarian.
so on and so on. you catch my drift. it sure wouldn'T be a long term solution. but it sure would satisfy most of us about it and you'd gain all the time in the world to work on the rest.
I actually wonder about how big of an ask that really is. I think it might throw off their UI to add Rage, Inspiration, Wild Shape, Sneak Attack, etc, not to mention all spells that might change it AND spells that might change it in the future, like Bane and Bless.
Don't get me wrong, I'd love for it to include stuff like Sneak Attack, but there are a lot of things to pack in the screen.
just saw that the component pouch has its own storage tab now. now we need all the components for spells , like bat guano, feathers and all the other stuff. im thinking one bit of bat guano lets you cast 10 spells. cuz rubbing it on your hands so often you will loose some here and there
I viewed the list and the ability to add spells to your spell list was talked about, but looks like it went nowhere.
Having the ability add spells like you can with feats would be nice. For now you have to add a spell scroll to your inventory and then remember you have it because it doesn't show up anywhere but the inventory list...should have a USE function on spell sheet and should be available as an option on the action sheet. Just my $.02. Thank you

Until that comes about, a better option might be to make a custom magic item that grants the spell. That way it'll show up in your spell list and among your actions.
For ability scores I noticed that the description of what can be done with the ability is listed in the side tab (like how to calculate your lift capacity) but nothing really usable in the moment.
What about including a listing for things like pre-calculated Jump distance based on your score
Any chance we could get the posted articles to be part of the search? I was just looking to read all of the Druid 101 articles. After flipping through a couple pages of the archive, I thought I could save time by searching for it. "Druid 101" was a failed investigation check, even if I said to look in the forums (not much forum stuff is in that search anyways) So could the articles, at least by title, be added to the search?
(I did find the tags at the bottom to find what I wanted with less pouring through pages of archive but even those are a bit inconsistent Only about 1/3 of druid articles are tagged Druid 101. Most are tagged Class 101 but with every other class and Circle of the Land is the only article tagged Druid.)
I know there is already a way to "Add Custom Items" to Inventory, but those items can't be put in containers, apparently. Or at least not yet, perhaps that's a later phase? For now my only option is to "Remove" them. For custom items, it might also be a good idea to give those a color of their own (like magic item types get), so that the DM can see what custom items a player added to their sheet without having to click every object to scrutinize the entry. I know that customized items from available equipment get an asterisk, but added custom items do not. It would really save time and save me from finding out (or worse, not finding out) one of my character has picked up every twig and stone on their journey between cities but isn't encumbered. :-P I'm exaggerating (only a little), but you get the idea. This way I could go through all of their sheets much more quickly and find such items and assign them a weight and cost value between sessions. The weight is relevant if nothing else, for encumbrance. And I don't need an upset player whining "but... but... I picked up every twig and rock for 200 miles", or the equivalent impact of a "Peasant Rail Gun" on the game when they try to use 600 pounds of twigs and stones on some hair-brain idea. I know I can just disallow it, and I know the players shouldn't be doing things like that, and should tell the DM when they do. But if you've played at a table you know some players do some crazy stuff, and not every player shares the same perception of what's relevant, and kids don't necessarily know to yet. So this could make it easier to teach the game, to know when people have randomly added things they think are inconsequential but en masse are consequential or could be used in a consequential way. Add to this, playing online is more difficult to get a timely word in over the din of everyone talking, playing online is now more of a thing than before Covid. It would just be helpful with my in-between game reviews to get through it faster. It would be easier if these things stood out a bit more.
Also, I love the Underdark Mode, but there is a small difficulty. On the White character sheet background, the proficiency dots are black. On the Dark character sheet background the proficiency dots are the color of the Theme, which if you're using a darker theme the dots can be hard to see. I understand I could simply use a lighter theme color, but still the dots should probably be white or light gray (as per the font colors used in that section to be automatically visible) by default so they'd be more visible against the dark gray background regardless of the Theme color.
Last, thanks for the great work on the Combat Tracker. I had been hoping for a way to change the names of monsters so I could assign initiative to groups of the same monster type and be able to differentiate between them in the Tracker versus the battle map. It's not exactly the way I envisioned it, but it works. I can 'start' the combat, add entries to represent secondary and tertiary groups and so on, and then save the battle, and it's ready for the encounter when we're live in-game. This makes it so much easier to keep track of which enemy/npc group goes on which initiative. Thanks!

Number one priority right now should be getting a functional Adventurers League system set up with different season options and changes in the character sheets to allow buying only specific items, no homebrew, PHB+1 etc.
I've introduced a sidekick and I'm allowing my player to manage it. Unfortunately their (the sidekick's) attacks\saves etc. are not rollable from the extras menu. I apologize if this has been discussed.
Completely unsure if this has been brought up or not but,
Can we, pretty please, get a better way to organize characters? Like a tab system to sort NPC's made for a campaign away from PC's that you're playing in other games, and so on?
I love making characters for things and sometimes have to scroll a fair distance regardless of which current "Sort By" feature I'm using, and would really love a more customizable path to sorting them out.

plenty of stuff to use for that one. honestly the events i have gone to during comic con, wither gives you a premade character for the story or allow you to create your own without much hassle from them. they just want the games to go the faster they can. i'm with you on the swhole it should be here to help new players get into it... but it really isn't much of a priority when you consider how much "don't care" there is in actual adventurers league plays. all they did was look at the character thru my phone. said it was fine, and so there i was playing it.

Yeah, I get what you are saying, maybe it's just my local store. They are very strict and all of my players have had a terrible time with Dndbeyond setting up characters.
There is no guidance. Would be really nice if it had a special location to say I am playing the seasonal, it could say well this season you have cold winter clothes added to your inventory, it gives you all options and if you select a handbook specific item a pop up states "this will change your +1 to tasha's" etc. It could be done very well.
Maybe it should not be priority one but it should be a medium priority.

Please can we have this? This will make finding a group much easier.
Can we get private messages to our players within the campaign screen please?

This has been requested many times, but it is always helpful to have another voice requesting it, so thank you.
in the meantime, one workaround folks have used is to create campaigns to organize characters into groups.
