Simply put...not worth spending the money on without it. The default Ranger class is abysmal by WoTCs own admission ( https://media.wizards.com/2016/dnd/downloads/UA_RevisedRanger.pdf). If not planning on implementing...then players should be able to add Homebrews that have been developed for Unearthed Arcana content.

That won't happen until sometime after Xanathar's Guide to Everything. They have said it will most likely appear as some kind of homebrew since UA is listed as playtest material. The homebrew system is under revision as well, and is not yet complete. Some speculation that the rest won't be added until after Xanathar's as well.
What's the difference between the UA ranger and the PHB ranger? It's not super clear to me what changed that makes such a big difference.
Favored Enemy now adds damage, only shows up twice, lets you select the entire category of humanoids as one of your Favored Enemies, and has a few other changes.
Natural Explorer now lets you ignore difficult terrain, grants advantage on initiative rolls, grants advantage on attacks on your first turn against enemies that haven't acted yet, applies to all terrain types, and has a few other bonuses.
Land's Stride is replaced by Fleet of Foot, which lets you Dash as a bonus action.
Primeval Awareness no longer consumes a spell slot and has a few other beneficial changes.
Extra Attack is now a subclass feature.
Beastmaster--now the Beast Conclave--is noticeably better.
