I was wondering if their is general class for magic users where they dont have specialize in schools evocation etc conjuration where they can just use general magic without having to focus on one general area. I find as magic user its limited by what spells we want to cast down price to casting another school of magic is disadvantage casting and I rather liked the first edition where magic user did not have to focus on certin areas of schools enchantments or evocation spells just cast spells as it is for magic
Unlike previous editions of D&D, there are no barred schools of magic. So, taking any of the schools presented in the 5e PHB will not limit what spells a wizard can cast.
Rules say you have to take arcane tradition and I dont want to for my wizard class instead want to generalize in all magic areas and forgo the special benfits arcane tradition offers instead will take only what spell level slots I can cast for each level of spell. Cause in my honest opinion this specialization does not draw out the true aspect of magic user which has creativeness to use magic in all different aspects. If they had realized short comings of arcane tradition they should have made 1st-9th in all different areas of spells this way you can use what that specialization does to combat monsters or magic then fizzules due restrictions areas of expertise calls for and dm I had would have me do disadvantage since it was not in realms my arcane tradition and ph book does not clearly define what areas of wizard cast like sorcers or warlocks doe not have same realms of magic as wizards or vs versus and not trying to argue benifits of arcane tradition compared to limitations that generalization offers and its players creativeness of how magic is used to succed in helping party out or dooming them

Hello ChaosKnight430,

Have I answered your question?
Kind Regards,
