In DDAL S10 it is possible and even encouraged to use the Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything Abilities Variant.
This variant rule is great because it allows endless new character builds and stories by enabling race-class combinations that were of low value before. Now we can have a very strong Elf for example or a Human starting with +5 Int. Even an exceptional Half-Orc Wizard I could imagine. Hero's that can definitely exist depending on their back story. Also it's a lot of fun to have that rule.
It would require to program a mechanism to redistribute the race given attribute points manually. Do you have any plans for that? Otherwise it would be hard to play DDAL S10 Characters with dnd beyond. (Except skipping the variant rule but it's a great idea to have it in my oppinion)
I believe as a workaround it could be somehow done with Homebrew racers based on source book races, but that is too much work compared to implement that in the character.
Um, AL season 10 is allowing players to use rules about ability scores that will be published in Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything. Mythic Odyssey’s of Theros contain no such rules. Tasha’s isn’t out yet. The DDB staff is working hard to implement the rules in Tasha’s for release day. Hopefully the racial ASI rules in Tasha’s will work here when it is released.
Argh thanks, I was thinking Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything and writing Mythic Odyssey’s of Theros. My bad. Fixed
In the meantime I tried to apply this to create a variant of a Human, a nerdy human subrace, starting with +5 Int and +1 Wisdom... https://www.dndbeyond.com/subraces/302871-human-bookworm - That opens so much room for feats later in a wizard build, I want to play such a hero (of course he will have a little trouble finding a girl eh, but who cares)

Per the preview rules for AL season 10, that's not actually a valid option. You can't reassign multiple bonuses to the same ability score, meaning a non-variant human can only be +1 to each ability.
take any ability score increase you gain in your race or subrace and apply it to an ability score of your choice. If you gain more than one increase, you can’t apply those increases to the same ability score, and you can’t increase a score above 20

Oh somehow the "can't increase a score above 20" totally distracted me from the part of the sentence before. I saw my chance to get up to 20. It was wishful thinking.
But maybe to completely understand as not a native speaker I need an example. Let's say I get +2 Cha and +1 Wis, then I can't increase +3 Cha (assign to already increased?) instead. But +1 Str +1 Int +1 Dex would be an option, correct? @Davedamon
No, +2 Dex is not possible as I understand, the second increase on Dex would have been applied "to the same ability score"
I think... and I hope in the book it will be supported by examples.
"you can’t apply those increases to the same ability score" can mean so much. Like they cannot be applied to the abilities that were originally increased. Or not more than one point to a previously not raised ability. Or is the increase meant as a whole, like a +2 can be used to increase another one +2 but not two others +1 each. Or maybe only two others +1 each is possible but not +2. Or more interpretations...
Please WOTC be precise when creating out such rules.
Maybe Dnd beyond can make a blog article about this race variance once the book comes out. To advertise and clarify it @James Haeck
"If you’d like your character to follow their own path, you may ignore your Ability Score Increase trait and assign ability score increases tailored to your character. Here’s how to do it: take any ability score increase you gain in your race or subrace and apply it to an ability score of your choice. If you gain more than one increase, you can’t apply those increases to the same ability score, and you can’t increase a score above 20. For example, if the Ability Score Increase trait of your race or subrace increases your Constitution by 2 and your Wisdom by 1, you could instead increase your Intelligence by 2 and your Charisma by 1."

Ah, so the exact increase can be assigned to another ability, not each increment. I should have read this again with fresh eyes. Ok thanks!
Oh I wasn't aware you have actual insight. Cool I'm looking forward to it. In the meantime Homebrew races could do the trick (if done right not as mine above) =)
Just note that I said "hopefully." Sometimes DDB hasn't been able to model all the character mechanics in new material right away. But I know from the Developer Updates that they are working on it.

You can already do this with very little difficulty. On the “override score” part of the character builder, if you want tot take the plus 2 from a score, say the score is -2, and then manually add a +2 to another modifer. This takes seconds.

From the season 10 rules, customising your origin:

no to +3
+2 cha and +1 wis to something else like +2 dex and +1 con.

OK now that understanding is clear, back to the initial question: Will the Character Builder support it?
